Pi. דחס same. Tosef. Toh. VIII, 8 וכ׳ כליו המדחס (ed. Zuck. המדחם, ed. המדחה; R. S. to Toh. VII, 7 חרש, corr. acc.) if one stuffs his bathing apparel into the bather's window closet (opp. to המניח).
דחס (v. preced.) to press, stamp. Targ. Lam. II, 2 ed. Lag. -- Yeb. 103a לכרעיה למדחסיה צריך must press his foot (rest it firmly on the ground). Y. B. Mets. IX, beg. 12 הוו דחשין(read n דחישין orדחיסי) they were crowded, opp.דליל. Pa. דחיס same. Ib. [Targ. Y. Deut. XXV, 9 ויחדס ed. pr., oth. ויחכס, prob. וידחס]
דחסה f. (דחס) squeezing, pressure (on the abdomen). Yeb. iea ot.
דחף (b. h.; cmp. דחי) to push, thrust, knock down (interchanging with דחה). Yoma VI, 6 וכ׳ דחפו knocked him down backward. Ib. 66b דחפו (Tosef. ib. IV (III), 14 דחאו), v. דחי. Snh. VI, 4; a. e. -- Part. pass. דחוף, f. דחופה impelled, hastened. M. Kat. 28a ד׳ מיתה (stronger than דהויה, v. דהי; Var. סהופה, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note).

דחק (b. h.; cmp. preced.) to press, squeeze, crowd, stamp. Pes. 95b, a. e. וכ׳ זבין דחקו if persons afficted with .. . forced their way &c. -- Men. 98b top ובולטין דוחקין וכ׳ pressedagainst and protrudedkc. Ab. II, 15 דוחק בעה״ב the employer (the Lord) presses (urges to work). Ber. 64a השעה את ד׳ to force time, be importunate, v. דהה. Lev. R. s. 28; Pesik. Haom. p. 70b; Pesik. R. s. 18; Yalk. Kat. 28a וכ׳ רגליה דחקא the foot of Bar Nathan is pres- sing (his predestined term of office has begun). Pa. דחק to press (a debtor). Targ. Y. Deut. XV, 2 למדחקא (ed. Vien. למדה׳). דחק m. (preced.) 1) emergency. Nidd. 9b, a. fr. בשעת הד׳ in a case of emergency. -- 2) pressure, need, v. דוחק.
