dayyah (stork), anaphah (ib.) רגזנית ד׳ ו the irascible dayyah; v. דייתא.
דיה (cmp. דוי) to be faint. Af. אדיה to make fainter, paler. Nidd. 20a וכ׳ ליה tאדיה they showed him a fainter color, and he declared it clean.
דיהא, דיהה m. (preced.; cmp. form and meaning of כהה) faint, feeble, dim; ght in substance, thin. Neg. I, 2 הימנה דיהה סיד שלthe red within tthe lime-colored leprosy is fainter than the laiter, opp. ע; Tosef. ib. I, 3 דוהא. Tosef. Nidd. III, 11 מכא ד׳if fainter than this (shoe-black), opp. עמוק; Nidd. II, 7; 20a מכן ד׳. Ib. דד׳ ד׳ extremely faint. Gitt. 57a האור מן דיהה Ar. (ed. דוחה, read דוהה, fr. דהה) gets faint from the effect of the heat. Yeb. 80b; Tosef. ib. X, 6 דוחה זרעו שכבת his semen is watery, Opp. מקושר cohesive; Tosef. Zabim II, 4 דוהה; Nidd. 35b. -- Y. B. Bath. VIII, 16a bot. wherever the word מורשה (heiloom) is used, דיהא לשון it is a faint (vague) expres- sion (not meant in its true sense as a real inheritance). Ib. (ref. to Deut. XXXIII, 4) וכ׳ סיגין ד׳ לית there is none vaguer than thistmorashah), for whosoeverlabors (studies), obtains the whole of it. -- Pl. f דיהות. Y. Ter. III, 42b top ד׳ ענבים the juice of grapes is light in substance (in- cohesive).
דיהי (=הי די) of this (certain event). Targ. Y. Gen. XXV, 33 ד׳ כיום as iff it were the day of a certain event (of lIsaac's death and Esau's succession, cmp. Targ. Y. ib. 31); Targ. O. ib. 3u, 33 דלהי ed. Berl. (ed. דלהין, דילהין, cmp. דילי, דיליה, s. v. די).

דיו II (a) two, double, a Greek prefix, sometimes used as a separate word (bo) for etymological pmurp~ses, and sometimes separated from its junction. Erub. 18a (explain. דיומדין, v. דיומד) עמודין דיו two columns; ib. (expl. דיופרא, v. דיפרא) פירות ד׳ העושה bearing fruits twice a year. -- זוגי ד׳, פרצוף ד׳ &c., v. דיוז׳, דיופ׳ &c.
דיו־ a Greek prefix. -1)=δι-, v. preced. -2)==δια-.
*דיו m. (v. דוי) 1) faintness, trouble, sickness. Y. Ber. IX, 13a bot. וכ׳ ליה ד׳ he was in trouble; (so) we let him pass. -- 2) intej. expressive of love-longing (וlp. אוי &c.) Oh Ah Cant. R. to lII, 9 (play on דודי) את וכ׳ ד׳ ד׳ לנו אומר thou (O Lord) sayest to us, Oh Oh b [strike out the gloss דיאו דיאו פי׳). Thou art sighing for us first (instead of our aspiring for thee) Ib. דיוביט m. (διαβητης, diabetes) siphon. Y. Erub. X, 26d top בד׳ מעלין you may draw liquids by means of a siphon on the Sabbath; Tosef. Sabb. II, 8; Erub. 104a בריופי (popular perversion, as though=פי דיו double mouth, v. דיו I).

דיוזוגי (a popular perversion of διαδοχη, as though= זוגי דיו two sets, v. דיו II) succession in government, str- render of offfice. Sot. 13b וכ׳ היתה ד׳ של שבת אותה (Ar. דיוזגי; Yalk. Deut. 941 דיוזגו) it was the week of trans- mission of office when the office was taken from the one (Moses) and given to the other (Joshua, hence'Moses and Joshua went' &c., Deut. דיומד m. (perh. a perversion of διδυμος, forked, cmp. LXX, Josh. VIII, 29; popular etymol. =עמודי דיו, v. דיו II; Erub. 18a) a cormner-piece made of two boards rectangu- larlyjoined or of a block dug out in the shape of a trough, our of which corner -pieces form, in legal fiction, an en- closureofwells &c. (v. פס), making the ground so enclosedd a private place for Sabbath use. Erub. 15a, a. fr. משום נירון ד׳ is considered as a diomad (two fictitious walls). Y. ib.
