דיותא f. ch.=h. דיו, ink. Targ. Jer. XXXVI, 18. - Hull. 47b כד׳ iike dried ink. Nidd. 20a דד׳ פכחותא the watery part of the ink, דד׳ חרותא the sediment. דיחוי, דחיי m. (דחי) suspension, removal of a con- lecrated ojectt from its purpose; disabiliy. Kidd. 7b; Zeb. 12a, a. e. ד׳ הוי מעיקרא ד׳ a primary disability(existing at the ime of the vow) is considered like a removal (through a cause ofallater date), (opp. to ונדחה נראה, v. דחה Nif.). Ib. בדמים ד׳ יש the law concerning suspension or removal applies also to such objects as are consecrated oly for the value they represent; a. e. -- Pl. דיחיין, דח. Yoma 63b ד׳ ליה דלית who rejects the opinion concerning unfitness (of the scape-goat on account of an accident to the sacrificial goat). Zeb. 12b; a. e.

דייטא, דייטי, דיוטא, דיאטי f. (διαιτα, diaeta) 11) chasmber, sitting-room (generally ugp-stairs; oompart- ment, story. Sabb. XI, 2 (96a) אחת בדייטי Y. ed. aa. Ar. (Bab. דיוטא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 1) in the same story (of separate buildings). B. Bath. 68a העליונח דיו׳ Ar. (ed. דיו׳) upper story. Y. Yeb. I, 3a bot. וכ׳ התחתונה לד׳ to the nethermost room of tthe nether world (tmmost degree of damnation; Gen. R. s. 6, a. e. אמבטה, אמבטי; בטי, ביטי). Tosef. Erub. IX (VI), 21 דיוטא ed. Zuck. דייטונא f. (διατονος, diatonus) band-stone running through the thickness of the wall. Lam. R. to I, 1 רבתי (אתתא חדא), וכ׳ דבייתי ד׳ Ar. (Var. שריתא) the bandstone of my house was broken.
דיילא, דיאלא m. (דול) 1) prop. one who pours water over anotther person's ihands (cmp. II Kings III, 11) hence (wשמש) attendant, waiter, esp. attendant ofaa ain- lng club, serving at the ttble and collecting aassessments, eees &c. ןabb. 148a; B. Kam. 119a 'ד cאדא (Y. Sabb. II, 4 top שמשא אדא) Ada, the waiter. Pes. 86b ד׳ בהו דרגש והוא provided the club-keeper has taken notice of them (Ms. M. 1 וכ׳ דגש the club-keeper knows them well; Ms. M. 2 ד׳ בהו דהדר that he went around for them to see whether they are all in). -- 2) in gen. beadle, constable. Yoma 18a (prov.) וכ׳ קמיה בשוקא חזי הוי ד׳ אחתיך בר אי if thy sister's son has been appointeda constable, look out that thou pass not before him in the street (for he knows thy afairs well and may blackmail thee).
*דיילא f. (דול) pouring, sprinkling. Y. Pes. V, 32a bot. (ref. tt Num. XIX, 13) זריקה בבה קיים ד׳ הא of this sprinkling act the expression זרק is used, and yet (in Num. XIX, 18 sq.) you call it הזיה.
דיין, דין m. (b. h.; דון) judge, generally at the same time lecturer, spiritual lleader. Snh. 7b. Sabb. 10a; a. r. -- Pl. דיינים, דיינין. Snh. l. c. הד׳ כלי the judges implements (stick, strap &c.). B. Bath. 51a גולה דייני the judges of the Diaspora (Karna a. Samuel; v. Snh. 17b). Keth. XIII, 1, v. גזירה; a. fr. -- em. pl. דיינות. Koh. R. to II, 8 דיינים נקבות וד׳ זכרים male judges and female judges (leaders; Yalk. ib. 96s נקבות ודינין . . דינין).
