דילמא, דלמא II (=אלמא (היא) דא, v. אלמא) here is a confirmation, a heading used in the Palest. dialect for intfoducing a story as an illlustration (corresp. to h. מעשה; v. Ruth R. to I, 17 a. Ex. R. s. 52). Koh. R. to v, 11. Pesik. Bahod. p. 155a. Y. Ber. I, 2. Y. Peah III, 17d bot.; a. fr. (in Talm. Y.).

דימה f. (דום or דמם) evil talk, gossip, envy (cmp. דבב a. derivatives). Nidd. 66a וכ׳ עיריך דימת שמא ed. (Ar. דמות) perhaps the envy of thy towns-women has risen against thee (bewitched thee).

דימוס I, דומוס m. (δομος, v. LXX, I EzraVI, 24) a row or layer of stones, bricks &c. in a wall. Y. Erub. I, 19a top ארחין של דו׳ a row of bond timber, v. אריח. דימוס II m. (δημος) 1) people (populus). Gen. R. s. 6; Ex. R. s. 15, v. בולי II. -- 2) popular gathering, public festival with games (cx~oab mי) given by Emperors or high officials and connected with amnesty; in gen. amnesty, pardon. Y. Ber. IX, 14b when the king ד׳ נותן grants a general pardon, opp. ספיקולה. -- Kidd. 63a עשה הזה כד׳ act as was done in that public game (Ar. דרומוס). -- Lev. R. s. 29, a. fr. בד׳ יצא he was pardoned. Gen. דימוסיא (דמוסיא) f. (δημοσια, τα) 1) public afairs. Gen. R. s. 8 מדינה של בד׳ Ar. (ed. בדימוסה; Yalk. lob 907 בדימוסיס) with the public affairs of the country. - 2) (~~~~ioffiscus) state property. Y. Snh. X, 28b top לכולן ד׳ ואחד and one golden calf was the common prop- erty of all the tribes. Gen. *דימוסנאי, דימסונאי (דימסנאי) m. pl. (a corrupt. of bo~av~te publicani) farmers of public revenues under the Roman government. Meg. Taan. ch. IIl, quot. in Snh. 91a [read] וכ׳ ד׳ איתבטילו (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) the demosiona were removed.
