דיסקרתא, דאיסקרתא, דס׳ c. (a Dispael of קרתאא, v. ד) part of a town, settlement, private town (עיר יחיד של]. Erub. 59a 'a private town which became public ground וכ׳ דאיס׳ כגון ed. (Ms. M. דיס׳) e. g. the diskarta of the Resh Galutha. Ib. דנשואר דיס׳ Ms. M. (ed. דנתזואי). Gitt. 40a דעבדי דס׳ a settlement of slaves. Meg. 16a סגי ד׳ בחדא ליה Ms. M. דיסתורא, דיסתורן lnr. דיסטורין, דס׳ pm. m. (Dithpe. or Dispe. of אסר; v. preced.) a binding relation, the relation of a serf or peasant, a sort of tenancy. Arakh. 28a בדיסתורן ליה סגיא ed. (Ar. a. Yalk. Lev. 678 דיסטורין) (when consecrating all of his fields) he may still make a living by working as a seri. Kidd. 60b דנקיט בדיסתורא ed. (Ar. דסטורין) when he holds the land shown to her as a peasant (but owns it not).
דיסתנא, דס׳ I c. (dial. for דשתנא, reduplic. of דשנא) gift, portion. Sabb. 156b וכ׳ לי דיחבו די׳ שקלת אנא Ms. M. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note, ed. דיהבת ריסתנאי שקלתי) I took the portion which was given to me (the bride) and gave it &c. Ber. 42a ד׳ . . . . שדא Ms. M. (read שדר; ed. וכ׳ מבי ר׳ להו שדרו) the Resh Galutha sent them an honorary portion. Gitt. 67b חמותא דחנקא ד׳ Ar. (ed. . . ר׳) a gfift which chokes a mothervin-lgw (a. חמתא . .m colloquial expression for a treacherous gift, as from a. diseased animal &c.; differ. in Rashi). דיסתנא, דס׳ II (dial. דשתנא) f. (Difel, v. ד־, denom. of וסתא) a menstruous woman. Taan. 22a דיס׳ ed. (Ms. M. דיש׳). Sabb. 110a דיס׳ Ms. O. (ed. דיש׳, Ms. M. דש׳). Ab. Zar. 18a דש׳. Ib. 24b דש׳ לנדה פרסאי קרו כמאן (Ms. M. אמרי for קרי) on what authority do the Persians call a. menstruous woman dishtana(for theusualdistana)? Answ. (ref. to Gen. XXXI, 35 as if fr. דוש, cmp. דוושא, having the course of women). [פרסאי does not necessarily refer to the Persian language, as evidenced by the preceding דביר. דיסתקא, דס׳ m. (diel. for דשתקא, v. preced.; Dithpe. denom. of שקא; cmp. Syr. אסתקא, דסתקא, P. Sm. 325; 931) handle of an axe, sword &c. Targ. Jud. III, 22. -- Y. Erub. V, 22d bot. דגזוראי דשקתא (readדשתקא) the handle of a wood-cutters' axe (wedged in between two buildings of a court). [Correct . v. גזוראה (גזר) wood-cutter.]
*דיסתקא, דס׳ f. (dial. for דשתקא, v. preced.; Dithpe. denom. of שוקא, שקקא) market-town, settlement. Targ. II Esth. VI, 10 ed. Frf. (ed. Lag. רוסתקא, oth. ed. ריס׳; Meg. 16aדיסקרתאא). - Ber. 54a דמחוזא רס׳; B. Mets. 83a;, B. Bath. 12b; Yalk. Ex. 346 ריס׳ the market-town (out- side) of M'hoza; v. ריסתקא.
דיעבד m. (=דאיעבד, Dithpe. of עבד) having been done, diaibad, a dialectical term to indicate that the case before you is dealt with as a fact, and not with reference to its direct permissibility in the premises, לכתחילה; as afact, decision ex post facto. Hull. 2a לכתחילה שוחטין הכל ד׳ כשרה ושחיטתן the words of the Mishnah (I, 1), All slaughter mean a direct permission (all may &c.), whereas the immediately following clause, 'And their slaughter- ing is ritually legitimate' indicates a decision after the fact (which implies that deaf-mute persons &c. must not be admitted to the slaughtering act)l-- Ib b לכ׳ הכל איכא ד׳ הכל איכא sometimes 'All . . . means a direct permission (all may), and sometimes a sanction after the fact. Ib. לי למה ד׳ תרתי why should there be in the Mishnah two diabadst Men. 105b לא לכ׳ אין ד׳ if it has been done, it is legitimate, but directly permissible it is not. Ber. 15a; a. v. fr. -בד׳־ as a diabad. Hull. 15b אלא . . . מכשיר קא לא בד׳ R. H. declares the action legitimate after it has been done, but he does not directly authorize it; a. fr. *דיפלון, read; דיפלין m. pl. (pl. of ~~~~) double (years), double age, i. e. 140 years (Ps. XC, 10). Gen. R. . 59 (expl. בימים בא, Gen. XXIV, 1) בדי׳ בא (some ed. בדיופ׳, Yalk. ib. 103 בדופלין) he was entering into his double age (approaching his one hundred and forfeth year; cmp. Gen. XXI, 5; XXV, 20); comment.; double world (this life and the hereafter).
