הרדופני, v. הרדפני.
הרדופנין m. (comp. of חר=הר, a. דופן, v. חרתבינה) walt-ivy, the leaves of which may be used for bitter herbs on the Passover night. Pes. 39a (Ms. M. הרדפ׳). V. הריפני.
הרדסיאות, הרדסיות (הדרר־) f. pl., ה׳ יוני V אי a species of domesticated doves (prob. so named from the manner of their fructification, v. הרדוס). Hull. XII, 1; Bets. 25a; Tosef. ib. I, 10; Tosef. Hull. X, 9 הרד׳ ed. Zuck. (Var. הדר׳). Hull. 130b הרד׳ תני וחד הר׳ תני חך וכ׳ one reads hadr., and one reads hardd., the one deriv- ng our w. from Herod, the other from the name of a. place.
*הרדפה f. (הדף, with ר inserted; cmp. הירדוף) [reomoval, isolation,] imprisonment within a narrow en- closare of reeds or poles, a punishment for contempt of court (v. נידוי). M. Kat. 16a (explain. לשרושי, EzraVII, 26). Ib. (a version of the Gaonim quoted by Asheri a. ., Nr. 53) דקני נצבי פפא א״ר ה׳ מאי what is hardafah Said R. P., Poles of reeds (fastened in the ground). [In ed. a. Mss. the answer to ה׳ מאי is absent.] lAr. ed. Koh. הרדוכה]
הרדפוני, v. next w.
הרדפני, הרדופני m. (Chald. form of הררופנין) a creeper the berries of which were known to be in- jurious to animals. Hull. III, 5 (58b); Tosef. ib. III, 19. -- Mekh. B'shall., Vayassa 1 (ref. o Ex. XV, 25) ה׳ ען וה it was the trunk of an ivy; Ex.R. s. 50; (ib. s. 23 ירדינון); Yalk. ib. 256 הרדפוני (corr. acc.); Tanh. B'shall. 24 מר ה׳ היה; Tanh., ed. Bub., ib. 19. -- [Var. הירדופני, v. Koh. הרה (b. h.) to conceive, be with child. Yalk. Ex. 168, end. Y. B. Kam. V, 5a top; Bab. ib. 49a. Hof. הורה to be conceived; *(homilet.) conceptioni, v. הורת. Gen. R. s. 64; Yalk. Job 894 that she would have said to him, גבר ה׳ is this a time for conception, man? (Rashi).

הרהון II m. urin-soaked dung, v. רהון a. דתין.
הרהור, היר׳ m. (הרהר) 1) thought, meditation, opp. דיבור loud recitation. Ber. 20b דמי כדיבור ה׳ review- ing in mind (a Biblical passage &c.) is as good as loud recitation. Sabb. 150a (ref. to Is. LVIII, 13) אסור דיבור וכ׳ ה׳ talking (business on the Sabbath) is forbidden, thinking (planning) is permitted. -- 2) heated imagination, esp. impure fancies. Ber. 12b עבירה ה׳ unchaste imagina- tion, ע״ז ה׳ idolatrous fancy. Nidd. 13b לידי עצמו המביא ה׳ who allows sinful fancies to take a hold of him. Zab. II, 2; a. fr. -- Pl. הרהורים. Yoma 29a top עבירה הרהורי וכ׳ sinful (obscene) imaginations are more injurious to health than the sin itself. Esth. R. to III, 1 (play on ahar) שם היו דברים הרהורי plans (schemes) were there.

הרהר, היר׳ (Pilp. of הרר; v. הרה, cmp. esp. Is. LIX, 13) 1) to conceive n mint, to think, meditate, plau. Ber. III, 4 בלבו מהרהר thinks (recites the Sh'ma) in his heart, v. הרהור. Gitt. 57b בדעתיה תשובה הי׳ he conceived he idea of repentance. -- 2) to be heated, entertain impure thoughts. Hull. 37b ביום הרהרתי לא I allowed no impure thoughts to rise in me in day-time; a. fr. -- 3) (followed by אחר) to disparage, criticise, detract from. Snh. 110a רבו אחר המהרהר who speaks evil of his teacher. Num. R. s. 7 וכ׳ הרהרת אם if thou criticisest them &c. Ber. 19a ביום אחריו תהרהר אל do not think evil of him the day after (for he surely repented). Sifre Deut. 307 להרהר אין מדותיו אחר you must not criticise His dealings with man; a. fr. -- 4) to heat, make sick with fever. Lev. R. s. 17 (play on חרצבות, Ps. LXXIII, 4; v. ה״א) הרהרתים לא בחלאים (Var. חרחר׳; Ar. s. v. חרצב; ערער׳) I did not make them hot with diseases; Yalk. Ps. 80s. [Ilkts. III, 11, v. חרחר.]

הרווחה, הרוחה f. (b. h. הרוחה; רוח) 1) relief, release. E. R. s. 10, end; Tanh., ed. Bub., Vaera 22; Yalk. Ex. 186 (cmp. המסס as to fusion of article). Tanh. Mikk. 10, v. בסר I; a. e. -- 2) plenty, liberal provision; com- fort. Snh. 21b לה׳ צריכא לא the word לו is to intimate a liberal appropriation (for the army). Sifre Deut. 306 ה׳ לשון אלא פתיחה לשון ואין the word 'opening' has the meaning of comfort, opp. דוחק לשון. Keth. 43a אלמנתו וכ׳ בה׳ ליה ניחא לא as to his widow he cares not for her living comfortably (from her own earnings besides the legal alimentation) &c.
