*טלנס, Cant. R. to VII, 8 ט׳ כמין, read; נילוס כמי like the inundation of the Nile (so did the fire spread from the furnace when it was broken through); v. אוקיי. [The entire passage from כיצד to אוקיי belongs to VII, 9, after the words; הכבשן שנפרן מכאן; v. סלטיא.]
טלע I (b. h. צלע; cmp. טלל) [to hang over, incline,] to halt. Af. אטלע same. Targ. Gen. XXXII, 32, v. טלח. [Yeb. 39b וכ׳ דגליך לה אטלע turn thy right foot towards her וכ׳ לה ואטלע and he did so, Rashi; v. next w.] Ithpe. איטלע to become lame. Meg. 22b; Taan 25a; Succ. 53a.
טלע II (cmp. preced.) to loosen, untie. Targ. Ruth IV, 7; 8 (h. text שלף). Targ. Lam. IV, 3 (h. text חלן). Ithpe. איטלע to be untied, taken of. Targ. Y. Deut. XXIX, 4. -- Yeb. 39b וכ׳ לה איטלע ed. (Ar. לך) have the shoe of thy right food untied (for her); וכ׳ ליה ואטלע Ar. and he loosened the shoe of . . ., and she took it off (ed. לה ואיט׳ and he had his shoe . . . loosened &c.); [other interpret., v. preced.]. Af. אטלע to untie, v. supr.
טלף c. (cmp. צלף) [glittering, pealing,] hoof, esp. (b. h. פרסה) cloven foot. Ex. R. s. 18 beg. B. טמא or טמא m. (=טעמא, v. M. Kat. 18a quot. s. v. טעמא, a. T'shuboth G'onim ed. Cassel, p. 22a) reason, argument(on the cause of grief), consolation. - Pl. טמיא,or טמיא. -ט׳־ בי gathering of comforters around the mourner in his house or at the place of worship. Ber. 6b דבי אגרא וכ׳ ט׳ (Ar. טמא, Tshub. G'onim l. c. טעמא) the merit of attending the mourner's gathering lies in the silence (which must be observed unil the mourner begins to speak). Snh. 113a [read:] ט׳ ביה למשאל (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note), v. פפהמא.
טמא I (טמה) (b. h.; cmp. טמם) [to be filled up. inaccesible,] to be unclean; v. טמא II. Pi. טימא (טימה) 1) to make unclean, to soil, defile. Yoma 39a וכ׳ מטמאין מעט עצמו מטמא אדם if a man be- gins to defile himself a little (through sin), he will soon be defiled largely. Yad. III, 5, a. fr. הידים את מט׳ their handling makes the hands unclean (washing the hands is required after handling them). Kel. I, 11; a. v. fr. -- 2) to declare unclean. Toh. VI, 2.
