Nif. נטמא, Hithpa. התטמא, היטמא 1) to become unclean, to be made unclean. lkts. I, I ומיטמא מטמא eventually makes unclean and becomes unclean. Kel. II, 1 מיתטמאין וכ׳ (ed. Dehr. מיט׳) are fit to become unclean and to make unclean. Ib. וכ׳ מיט׳ ואינן מאחוריהן ומיט׳ Mish. ed. (Talm. ed. מט׳) may be made unclean through their backs (touching uncleanness), &c. Ib. VI, 4 ונכמאו and which became unclean; a. v. fr. -- Yoma 38b [read] לטמא בא לו פתחין (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) to him who is willing to defle himself, doors are open; Sabb. 104a; Ab. טמי, טמא = h. טמא, to be, become unclean. Targ. Ps. CVI, 39 טמיאו (some ed. incorr. טמי׳). Pa. טמי, טמא to make unclean. Targ. Y. II Num. XII, 12. -- Targ. Mic. II, 10 לטמיותה בדיל ed. Lag. (ed. ט׳ בדיל corr. acc.) in order to deflle her. -- Hull. 3aלטמייה לבשר וטמיתיה . . . the person will make the knife un- clean and then the knife will make the ilesh unclean. טמיון, טימיון m. (~~~~~~) treasury, esp. Honan aurarium, fiscus. Lev. R. s. 19 לט׳ ממונם מכניס confis- cated their property for the fiscus. Ib. s. I 1, a. e. ט׳ גבאי tax collector; Ruth R. introd. end טמיאון (insert גבאי). Gen. R. s. 61 לטי׳ מצרים ארן שנמצאת עד until it was found by calculation that the entire land of Egypt would be forfeited to the treasury (for its indebtedness to the Jews); Yalk. ib. 110; (Meg. Taan. ch. טמיקא, טימי׳ m. (~~~~~~, tamiacus) belonging to the lmperial treasury, tamiaca (praedia), crown-lands, imperial domains. Esth. R. introd. אתם ט׳ אתם you are crown property (God's own people); הט׳ מן עבד לו הלוקח וכ׳ שוב (read ודם בשר של, abbr. ב״ו של, for שוב) does not he who takes to himself a slave from the crown lands forfeit his ife Ib. (ref. to Esth. VIII, 7) דפשט על בט׳ ידיה because he stretched forth his hand against crown property (the Jews).
טמיקון m. (variously corrupted) same. Pesik. Vayhi, p. 7b ט׳ שרי דמלכא הן where the king resides (in the seventh heaven) there is the crown property (which must not be desecrated by symbolical representations); Num. R. s. 12; Cant. R. to VI, 4; [Esth. R. to I, 2 טיטיון, v. טמיון.]
