יולדה, יולדת f. (b. h.; preced.) a woman in con- finement; a mother. Ab. II, 8 יולדתו אשרי blessed is his mother. -- Pl. יולדות. Sabb. 32a י׳ מתות נשים women die in confinement (v. לידה); Y. ib. II, 5b top; v. ילדה. - Sot. I, 5 הי׳ את (not יולדת) the women appearing in the Temple after confinement.

יום (b. h.) light, day (opp. night); (astronomical) day; trnsf. day of life; time. Gen. R. s. 6 וכ׳ והגשמים הי׳ the noise of the moving light (Yoma 20b חמה גלגל קול) and the rains &c.; Midr. Sam. ch. IX. Gen. R. l. c. (ref. to Mal. III, 19) וכ׳ מלהט שהוא י׳ it is the day light which will glow the wicked (cmp. נרתק). M. Kat. 25b (ref. to Am. VIII, 9) וכ׳ של יומו זה that means the day of life of Josiah (who was slain in the bloom of manhood). Gen. R. s. 3 (ref. to ib. I, 5) יוה״כ זה ואיזה . . . אחד י׳ 'one (distinguished) day . . . that is the Day of Atone- ment. Hull.
