יציקה f. (יצק) casting (metal), pouring (oil). Y. Ber. I, 2d top; Yalk. Gen. 19 יציקתן כבשעת נראין they (the heavens) look (as bright) as at the time they were cast. Men. יציר (יצור) m. (יצר) 1) creature, creation. Gen. R. s. 9 (ref. to I Chr. XXVIII, 9) וכ׳ יצור נולד שלא עד קודם ere yet a human creature is formed, his thought is re- vealed before thee; Midr. Sam. ch. V; Yalk. Chr. 1080 יציר. Pesik. R. s. 47 כפיי י׳ האדם Adam, the formation of my hands; Koh. R. to III, 11 כפי י׳. Keth. 8a כשמחך וכ׳ יצירך as thou didst rejoice thy creature (Adam) in the garden &c. -- Pl. יצירים, (יצו׳). Pesik. R. s. 26 מארבעה אחד יצו׳ . . . one of the four persons that are called divine creations (concerning whom the verb יצר is used in the Scriptures); Yalk. Jer. 262 יצי׳. - 2) v. יצירין.
יצירה f.(preced.) 1) formation, creation; nature. Yoma gגa י׳ לענין as regards the stages of embryonic formation. Lev. R. s. 14, beg. וכ׳ אדם של שיצירתו כשם as well as the creation of man took place after that of the animals, so is the law concerning man (Lev. XII -- XV) issued after that concerning animals (ib. XI). Ib. הוולד יצירת the for- mation (development) of the embryo. -- Sot. 2a; Snh. 22a וכ׳ הוו׳ י׳ קודם יום ארבעים forty days before the embryo is formed, a divine voice goes forth &c. Nidd. 22b י׳ דנין מי׳ we may draw an analogy between animals concerning whose formation the verb יצר is used (contrad. to ברא). Keth. 8a הואי י׳ חדא there was one act of formation for Adam und Eve (male and female persons combined, v. Erub. 18a); a. fr. -- Pll. יצירות. Ib. הואי י׳ שתי there were two different formations. Gen. R. s. 14 (ref. to וייצר with two י, Gen. II, 7) וכ׳ ו׳ שתי two formations, one referring to Adam, the other to Eve; וכ׳ לשבעה יצירה there is a. viable birth at seven months, and one at nine months. יצע (b. h.; cmp.יצא) to spread, unfold. Denom.יצוע, יציע. Hif. הציע to spread, to prepare the יצוע, lay out the mattresses &c.; to unfold, to arrange. Sabb. XV, 3 וכ׳ המטות את ומציעין and one is permitted to rearrange the couches, after being used on the Sabbath night, for use during the Sabbath day. Keth. 67b מטה לו מציעין they (the guardians of the poor) procure for him the require- ments for a couch. Men. 44a וכ׳ ז׳ לו הציעה she arranged for him seven couches. Gitt. 56b ס״תת ה׳ he spread a scroll of the Law (to lie upon it); Num. R. s. 18, end; Tanh. Huck. 1; a. fr. -- Mekh. B'shall., Vayhi, s. 1 בהמתם ומציעין לצאת and putting spreadings upon (saddling) their ani- mals &c. -- Tosef. Ber. יצף (v. צוף) [to flow, mel,] to be troubled, afraid (cmp. דאב, דאג). Pi. יצף to trouble, discourage. Tanh. ed. Bub. Vayera. 48 (quoted in 'Rashi' to Gen. R. s. 56) [read] בא הוא וכ׳ לנו ייצם הקב״ה אבל אותך ליעף he (Satan) comes to discourage thee, but the Lord will look out (v. צפה) for us, as it is said, God will see &c. (Gen. XXII, 8); (Tanh. Vayera 22 לנו ליעף אלא בא שאינו עליו תשגיח אל, prob. to be read; ליצף); Pesik. R. s. 40 לך לי׳.
