יקר m. (b. h.; preced. wds.) 1) gravity, dignity, honor. Meg. 16b (ref. to Esth. VIII, 17) תפלין אלו וי׳ and dignity (distinction) that means the T'lllin. -- 2) heavy fog, mist. Yalk. Fs. 730 מדבר של כי׳ (refto כיקר, Ps. XXXVII, 20) like the mist of the desert. -- Pl. יקרים Ib.
יקר, יקרא ch. same, 1) honor, dignity. Targ. Ex. XVu, . Targ. Ps. LXXXVII, 3. Ib. VIII, 6 Ms. (ed איקרא, v. איקר); a. fr. -- Ber. 28a top ׳ מן Ms. M. (ed. דמוקראא כסא, Ms. F. דיקרא) a vessel of honor (precious vessel). Snh. 46b וכ׳ י׳ הספידא are funeral ceremonies (eulogies, wailings &c.) for the honor of the deceased or of the survivors? Ib. נינהו י׳ בני הנהו were those (the survivors of the house of Jeroboam) worthy of honors?-- Lev. R. s. 34 היא לית ליקרך עבדא she acts (treats thee) not according to thy dignity; Gen. יקש (b. h.; cmp. נקש) to clap, catch in a trap. Nif. נוקש to be entrapped. Midr. Prov. to VI, 2 [read] וכ׳ פיכם באמרי נוקשתם you have been entrapped through your own words (Ex. XXIV, 7), you have been caught (taken captives) through (neglecting) them.

ירא (b. h.) to tremble, fear; to revere; to shun. Sabb. 88a (ref. to PPs. LXXVI, 9) וכ׳ יראה אם iff she (the earth) trembled, how could she be at rest, &c. ?ם-- Ber. 16b ליראה שמך את so as to fear thy name. -- (lsu. as participle or adjective) ירא m. Ned. 8b (ref. to Mal. III, 20) . . . אלו וכ׳ להוציא יראין שהן who are afraid to utter the name of the Lord in vain. -- חטא ירא shunning sin, of careful condu t conscientious. Ab. II, 5.
