לבנה f. (b. h.) 1) fem. of לבן q. v. - 2) moon. Ber. 59b. Erub. 56a וכ׳ בל׳ או ל׳ דאתיליד והוא provided the new moon sets in either at the moon-hour (the second hour of the night of the first day of the week and every eighth hour suceeding) or under the planet lTsedek (Jupiter). לבנון (b. h.) pr. n. Lcbanon, the mountain range in the north of Palestine. Cant. R. to IV, 15 . . . שתהא כד ל׳ כמין until the decision (Halachah) sprouts forth (bright) like a kind of Lebanon; ib. לבש (b. h.) [to join closely; denom. לבוש garment, whence] לבש, לבש to be dressed; to put on (an under- garment), contrad. to עטף, כסה. Y. R. Hash. I, 57b top וכ׳ ומתעטף שחורים לובש . . . . אדם a defendant before a human court puts on dark clothes and wraps himself in dark clothes, ...; וכ׳ לובשים אלא כן אינו ישראל אאבל but not so the lsraelites (on the New Year), but they put on white (festive) clothes &c.
