Ib. מעשה. . אסור מ׳ אין a m. remains for- bidden only until some act (as shearing its wool or some worlah) has been done with it; a. e. --- 4) (Sabbath law) mukktseh, that which s not counted on for use on the Sab. bath or Holy Day (v. מוכן s. v. כון, a. הזמנה); forbidden for use or handling. Bets. 2a הוא מ׳ דבשז טעמייהו מאי what reason had Beth Shammai (to permit the egg laid on the Holy Day by a hen which is kept for laying eggs and can, therefore, not be used for consumption on that day) Is it not muktsehf Ib. נולד ליה אית מ׳ ליה דאית he who forbids m. forbids also nolad (v. ילד). Sabb. 44a מ׳ מיאום מחמת not counted on (and therefore forbidden to handle) on account of its repulsiveness (e. g. an old clay candlestick); איסור מחמת מ׳ m. in consequence of a ritual prohibition (e. g. a candlestick which on the entrance of the Sabbath could not be moved because a light was burniog on it). Ib. 157a כיס חסרון מחמת מ׳ not counted on for use on the Sabbath becanse the object is too ex- pensive for a use for which it is not originally made; a. fr. --- Pl. מוקצים, מוקצין set apart, chosen. Sifre Nuim. 85 (ref. to בקצה, Num. XI, 1) שבהם במ׳ the fire seized the distinguished among them (with ref. to קצין, Jud. XI, 11; Yalk. Num. 732 בקצינים). -- Pesm. מוקצה, pl. מוקצות. Sabb. cb נינהו מ׳ והא are they not muktseh (because they are not intended for human food)?

מוקרא I m. (יקר) honor. Koh. R. to II, 20; Lev. R. s. 25 וכ׳ תיקריניה כ׳ הדין כל so much honor do you show to this old Jew-- Ber. 28a דמ׳ כסא, v. יקרא.
מוקרא II m. (קר I, cmp. קור I) [ pickings,] marrow, brain (v. מוחא). Targ. Job XXI, 24. Targ. Y. Deut. XXIII, 28מ׳ דמטפשא (not מוקדא) which makes the brain fat (dulls man's reason, v. טטפש). - Hull. 93a ודמ׳ דביעי the mem- brane covering the testicles and that covering the brain. --Yalk. מוקשה m. (cmp. מקשה) a cucumber bed. Y. Kil. III, 28a bot.; a. e. - Pl. (fr. מוקשא) מוקשיות (Y. dial. for מוקשאות). Iba המ׳ בין מוקשה (not גין) a cucumber bed between cu- cumber beds.
מור, Hif. המיר (b. h.; cmp. מהר) 1) to exchange. Snh. 56b תמירוני לא אני אלהים I am God, you shall not ex- change me (for another god); a. e. --Esp. (with ref. to Lev. XXVII, 33) to substitute a dedicated sacrifice (by which both become sacred property). Tem. I, 1 ממירים הכל (Bab. ed. ממירין) all persons have power to exchange; לא מומר המיר . . להמיר רשאי שאדם which means not that one is permitted to exchange, but that if one did, the substitute is sacred. Ib. 2a ממיר אינו יורש an heir cannot exchange his father's dedication. Ib. 3a, a. fr. מיבר (Pi. of ימר). Ib. I, 1(77b) שלהם את ממירים (Talm. ed. בשלהם) can exchange what belongs to them. Ib. ימירנו לא הבכור בו(Talm. ed.בו ממירין אין) he (the priest) cannot exchange the first-bormn animal (although it is his as the priest's share). Ib. 2 וכ׳ על הצאן מן ממירים you can substitute small cattle for large; a. fr. - V. אימורים. -2) to convert. Yalk. Gen. 136 אתכם ממיר אני I shall force you to abjure your religion (Gren. R. s. 82 משמיד); v. סומר. Hof. הומר to be exchanged, to become sacred (without redeeming the original). Part. מומר. Tem. I, I; a. fr., v. supra.
מור I ch., Af. אמיר (Pa. ימד) same. Tem. 2b נמי אמורי ממיר he has also the power to exchange (v. preced.). Ib. 10b וכ׳ מימר דלא הוא אימורי (Rashi אמורי) he has no power to exchange, but to dedicate he has. [B.fets. 77a אימר. אימרו, v. מרי. - [V. אמוריא.]

מור, מורא (מירא) ch. same. Targ. Ex. XXX, 23 (Var. מדא, מודא, מירא, v. Berl. Targ. O. II, p. 29). Targ. Prov. VII, 17. Targ. Ps. XLV, 9 מי׳. Targ. II Esth. II, 5 (play on מדדכי) דכיא מרא ed. Lag. (oth. ed. מי׳). -- Hull. 139b (translating דרור מר, Ex.l. c.) דכיא מירא clear (liquid) myrrh; Meg. 10b דכי מרי (Ms. O. a. L. דכיא מירא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 20). - Keth. 75a ומושקין מורה Ar. מורא I c. (b. h.; ירא) fear, reverence. Ab. I, 3, a. fr. שמים מ׳ the fear of the Lord. Ber. 28b שמים מ׳ שתהא ב״וד כמ׳ עליכם (Ms. M. שיהא) that your fear of the Lord be as great as the fear of man (before whom you hide yourselves when you want to do wrong). Kidd. 31a הקדים האב למ׳ האם מ׳ הקב״ה the Lord (the Bible text) places the reverence due to the mother before that due to the father (Lev. XIX, 3). Ibb מ׳ איזהו whereby is filial re- verence shown?; Sifra K'dosh., beg. מ׳ היא איזו. Ab. III, 2 וכ׳ מוראה שאלמלא but for the fear of it (the secular govern- ment) &c.; a. fr. -- Rem. form מוראה, constr. מוראת. Kidd. 30b. Num. R. s. 15 הרב מ׳. . . ו מורא this feard (Koh. VIII, 13), we know not what it refers tto; but on reading m (Lev. XIX, 32) we learn that it means the reverence due to one's teacher.
