מחר m. (b. h.; = מאחר; אחר) next day, future day. Mekh. Bo. 18 וכ׳ עכשיו מ׳ יש there is a mahar which means now (the next day), and there is a mahar which means some future time; Yalk. Ex. 225. -- Ber. 28a ואתה אני למ׳ וכ׳ to-morrow I and you &c. Sot. 48b אוכל מה מי כל וכ׳ למ׳ he who has bread in his basket and says, what shall I have to eat to morrow? &c. -- Y. Gitt. II, 44a bot. וכ׳ למ׳ הוא לילה הוא it makes no difference whether the same night or the next day or after some time; a. fr. -- מחרת f, constr. מחרת. Men. 65b יוט מ׳ השבת ממ׳ he morrow of the Sabbathh' (Lev. XXIII, 11) means the day after the first day of the Pestival (Passover). Ib. אינו אאו בראשית שבת למ׳ אלא may it not mean the morrow after the regular weekly Sabbath; a. e. -- מחרתים day after to-morrow. Midr. Till. to Ps. מחרישה f. (b. h. מחרשת; חרש) 1) plough. Tosef. Sabb. YIv (XV), i כ׳ של יתד the pin of the plough; Y.iiib. XVII, beg. 16a. Y. Naz. VII, beg. 55a המ׳ תעלם שלא כדי so that the plough might not stir them up. B. Mets. IX, 13 ואת ביום המ׳ and must give him back the (pledged) plough for the day; a. e. -- 2) strigil. Ib. 113b דכספא מ׳ a silver strigil (which, if pledged, the creditor may sell and give the debtor a common one); Keth. 68a דכספא מ׳ (such a. luxury as) a silver strigil.

מחשבה f. (b. h.; חשב) 1) thought, plan. Ber. 61a וכ׳ במ׳ עלה בתחלה it was the original plan to create &c. -- Kidd. 40a פרי שעושה מ׳ an intention which bears fruit (is carried out). Ib. וכ׳ מצרפה טובה מ׳ the merit of a good intention does the Lord (in rewarding) add to that of a. good deed; Y. Peah I, 16b top; a. fr. -- 2) troubled mind, care, apprehension. מחשבת f. (b. h.; preced.) design, art. מ׳־ מלאכת a. productive work (with a direct purpose). Bets. 13b; Hag. 10b, a. fr. תורה אסרה מ׳ מלאכת the Torah forbids (on the Sabbath) productive work (by which you aftect the property of an object, not mere changing of position, planless efforts &c.).
