מציאה f. (מצא) 1) finding, discovery. Y. Sot. I, beg. 16b (ref. to מצא, Deut. XXIV, 1) וכ׳ מקום בכל מ׳ אין וtind- ing 1means everywhere ascertaining through witnesses. -- 2) something found. Gitt. V, 3 ישבע לא מ׳ המוצא the finder of a lost object cannot be made subject to an oath (if he owner claims more). B, Mets. 8a, v. גבה; a. fr. -- Pl. מציאות. Ib. II, 1 וכ׳ שלו מ׳ אלו the following things if found be- long to the finder, and the following must be published; a. fr. -- Trmnsf. precious things. -- Pl. as ab. Gen. R. s. 50 (ref. to הנמצאות, Gen. מציאתא ch. same. - Pl. מציאן. Y. B. Mets. II, 8c bot. וכ׳ ועבד כ׳ מחזר גרמיה עביד he gains for himself the re- putation of one returning lost objects, and makes great gains; וכ׳ מ׳ מחזר בירייתא ליה חמי people see him return lost objects and give in his trust &c.
