מרס, Pi. מירס (denom. of מרס fr. רסס) to crush; to rub; to stir. Esth. RR. tto I, 14 (play on מרס ib.) ממרס שהיה העופות את he prepared the hash of birds; ib. (play on מרסנא, ib.) הסלתות את ממרס שהיה he stirred the flour (making dough). Ib. הדם את לפניך ממ׳ מי (not העופות, v. infra) who wil stir before thee the blood (of the sacri- fices); הסלתות . . . ממ׳ מי who will stir the flour (for the meal offerings)? Ib. (play on ממוכן מדשנא מרס, ib.) אני ממרס וכ׳ וממעך מסרס I will crush, chop and dissolve their lves &c. מרעית If. (b. h.; רעה I) pasture-ground, pasture. Pesik. R. s. 26, end וכ׳ מ׳ עשויה והיא and she (Zion) has become a pasture-ground for the beasts of the field. B. Mets. 86b (fusion of Hebr. a. Chald.) וכ׳ ממרעיתו תור מביאין (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 60) they bring from his pasture an ox that has not been forced (used for labor) &c.; Yalk, Kings 17 6 (not ממרעיתן); a. e. -- Trnsf. feeding one's cye, satisfaction. Cant.
