B'shall., p. 90b, sq. גשא (corr. acc.). - [2) to lif, weigh. - Denom. מתא, מסחתא.] Pa. נסח to remove, swcep out; to exile. Lam. נסי, נסא to lift up, take, carry, v. נשא.
נסי, נסה (cmp. preced.) to lifl up. Pi. נסה 1) same; 2) (denom. of נס) to putt up a siign;. to ask for a test (cmp. Is. VII, 11, sq.); to try, test. Gen. R.s. 55, beg. (interpret. נשה, Gen. XXII, 1) .. לנסותן בשביל וכ׳ לגדלן in order to lift them up (as a standard) for the world, to raise them &c., v. נס. Ib. (ref. to Gen. l. c.) R. J. says וכ׳ כנס גדלו he raised him &c.; R. A.. says, אותן נ׳ בוודאי he really tried him, v. ודאי. Ib. מנסה הקב'ה אין וכ׳ the Lord does not test Mhe wicked, but only the righteous; ib. s. 32; s. 34. Mekh. B'shall., Vayassa, s. I (ref. to Ex. נסיובי m. pl. (=נסיבביי; preced. wds.; cmp. פרש a. פרש) [that which is separated,] דחלבא ׳, or ׳ whey. Pes. 42a. B. Mets. 68b ותותרי נ׳ whey and refuse of wool. Ab. Zar. 35b קיימי דלא נ׳ איכא there is the whey which does not curdle (and which may contain usclean milkk),

נסיון, ניס׳ m. (נסה) 1) lifting up. Gen. R. s. 55, beg. וכ׳ גידולין ׳ אחר נ׳ (ref. to Ps. LX, 6) a repeated ele- vation, digmnity &c. -- 2) trial, tet; temptation. Snh. 107a ׳ לידי עצמו הביא . דוד David . . . placed himself in the power of trial (asked to be tried, Ps. XXVI, 2). Ber. 60b ׳ ליד תביאני אל suffer me not to come within the power of sin, iniquity, or temptation. Sifre Deut. 21 לותן לג׳ לי אתה wilt tthou et me hauve (the animal) for a trial ; a. fr. - Pl. נסיונות, נסיונין. Ab. V, 3 וכ׳ נתנסה ׳ עשרה Abraham underwent ten trials and stood all of them.
