סליקיא pr. n. pl. (v. סליק) Seleucia, the great city and fortress of Syria founded by Seleucus Nicator. Midr. Till. to Ps. IX ed. *סלירא f. (a corrupt. of sellula) a little chair or stool. LLev. R. s. 9 (mixed dict.) עליה וישב ס׳ לו (ליה) יהבו give him a stool that he may seat himself on it; Yalk. ib. 493 עליה ויתיב סלריא ליה יהבו (corr. acc.).

סלמנטון m. (a corrupt. of salsamentum) salted food, preserve. Siffra B'har, Par. 3, ch. IV (ref. to Lev. XXV, 22) מלמטן ישןלא (corr. acc., orסלסמן salsamen) old produces' (in natural condition,) not preserved; Yalk. Lev. 661 ולא סלמינטין (read; סלמינטוון); B. סלסול, סיל׳ m. (next w.) 1) loftiness, distinction, dignity. Y. Bicc. I, 64a בעצמן ס׳ נהגו וכהנים but the priests decided to guard their dignity (by abstaining from marry- ing one both of whose parents were proselytes); Kidd. 78b, Bekh. 30b וכ׳ שאין . .. ס׳ . .. נהגו the priests guarding their dignity decided not to entrust matters of levitical cleanness to everybody. -- Y. R. s. 91, a. e. it is written in the Book of Ben Sira וכ׳ ובין ותרוממך סלסליה hold her (the Torah) high, and she will uplift thee and seat thee between princes (v. Prov. IV, 8). Pesik. R. s. 20 וכ׳ בכל ולסלסלה . .. להרכיבה to let her ride on an elephant . .. and raise her among all the nobles of the kingdom; a. e. -Part. pass. מסולסל (v. סלת) select, sublime. Cant.
