מעתד ואנא משיחא אתא אין that I be ready, when the Messiah comes; Y. Kil. IX, 32btop;(Gen. R. s. 100 איטימוס). Y. Sabb. V, 7b bot. (expl. שוזות) מעתדן prepared (for copulation, v. Bab. ibb. 53b bot.); a. e. tthpa. אתעתד, איעתד 1) to be ready, designated, v. supra. - 2) to endure, v. עתר.
עתה (b. h.; v. עת) now, this time. Ber. 46a ועד מע׳ עולם from now and forever. Tanh. Mishp. 18 באתי וע׳ and now Ihave come again; a. fr. [In Talm. mostly עכשיו.]-- As a dialectic term; מע׳ from now, i. e. as a consequence; if this were so, then. - Y. Ab. Zar. עתוד m. (b. h.; עתד) [leader of the flock,] ram. - Pl. עתודים. Num. R. s. 13 עמידה לשוון אלא ע׳ ואין 'attudiom has the meaning of standing(readiness). Y. Ab. Zar. II, 41bוc top (ref. to Prov. XXVII, 26) וכ׳ כע׳ ונעשו הגדילו when the pupils have grown and become (strong) like rams, then reveal to them the secrets of the Law. עתיד m. עתידהf. (b. h.; עתד) standing (cmp. עמד);; ready, designated; in future. Meg. 15b; Snh.11 1b הקביה ע׳ וכ׳ להיות at a future time the Lord shall be a crown on the head of every righteous man. Sabb. 138b חורה ע׳ וכ׳ שתשתכח a time will come when the Law will be forgotten in Israel; a. fr. - לבא הע׳ (or הע׳) the future. עתיד, עתידא m. עתידא, עתידה f. ch. same. ready, destined; fature. Targ. O. Deut. XXXII, 35. Targ. Hab.II, 1 ע׳ קאים (h. text נצב). Targ. Cant. עתיק m. 1) (b. h.; עתק II) old, ancient. Yalk. Chr. 1074 (ref. to I Chr. IV, 22) עולם של מעתיקו הללו הדברים these words come from the Ancient One of the world (v. next w.); v. עתק Hif. -- [2) (עתק ) reomote. -- Pl. עתיקים. Ib. (anoth. explan. of I Chr. l. c.) כאן סתומין האלו הדברים וכ׳ (not אמורין) these words are obscure here, but ex- plained elsewhere; Ruth R. to I, I (s. 2).]

עתיר, עתירא m. (עתר) = h. עשיר. Targ. II Sam. XII, 1, sq.; a. fr. - B. Bath. 145b, v. כמס. Y. Shebu. VII, 37a וכ׳ ע׳ ביתא גו ומסכן שוקא גו ע׳ [אית] a man may appear rich in the street and be poor at home, be rich at home and appear poor in the street. Sabb. 113b; B. עתירה II f. (עתר to dig, stir; trnsf. to entreat, beseech; cmp. סגע, פצר) entreaty, being entreated, use of the root עתר. Pesik. R. s. 11 (ref. to Gen. XXV, 21; a. II Sam. XXI, 14) וכ׳ ע׳ אף תאומים להלן שנאמר ע׳ מה as being entreated' there refers to the grant of twins, so it does here &c. (double fertility). Y. Ber. II, 4a bot. עתירתינו ששמע hear our prayerr; a. G.
