פיסול, פס׳ m. (פסל) cutting off dry twigs, trimming. Shebi. II, 3 חמישית של כפיפולה tthe trimming as it is done in the ffth year, contrad. to זירוד. Ib. רשאי . . זמן כל בפסולו אני as long as I am permitted tto do what is necessary to cultivate the tree, I am also permitted to trim it; Y. ib. 33a העצרת עד בפיסולו רשאי אני I am permitted to trim it, that means up to the festival of Shabuoth. - Pl. פיסולים, פיסולין, פס׳ chiselled (millstones). פיסוק, פס׳ m. (פסק) 1) separation, interruption, pause. Zeb. 53b מתנות ארבע פ׳ Rashi a. Ms. R. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 60; ed. וארבע) four separate manipulations (with pauses between them), v. מחכה; Yalk. Lev. 44 1. - 2) טגמים פ׳ (or sub. טבמים; v. טעם) the division of words into clauses in accordance with the sense, punctuation. Ned. 37a (ט) פ שכר remuneration for teaching the values of punctuation signs or accents, v. [פפס. -3) setting a price on fruits before they are harvested. Y. B. Mets. פיסטין, פיסטיס, פס׳ f. (~~~~) trust. Yalb. Ps. 672 בפ׳ ופורעין . . נוטלין they borrow from one another in trust (without witnesses or note) and pay in trust; Midr. Till. to Ps. XIXבפינוסי, ed. Bubבפטסין ((corr. acc.). - Esp. פ׳ שטר a deed oftrust, an instrument by which prop- erty is conveyed to a person in trust (fideicommissum) to use it in a certain way; a feigned sale or donation (for the purpose of eluding creditors &c.). Y. Keth. II, 26b bot. הוא פ׳ ושטר . . . נאמנין (not פוסיטים, פיסיטים) witnesses (slggned on an insbruiment) are credited when tthey Saf, it was a deed of trust (v. אמנה), or it was a feigned transfer. Ib. (ref. to Job XI, 14) if there be wrong in thy house, remove it', this means a deed &c.; Bab. ib. 19b פסים, (read with Ar. פסיס q. v.). Ib. 79a שטר כותבת . . הרוצה לאחדים פסים if a woman desires to withhold her property from her husband's control, she may write out a deed of trust (a feigned transfer) to a third person (prior to her marriage); Tosef. ib. IX, 2 לאחר פטים שטר כותבן ed. Zuck. (Var. בטפיח, בטפוס כותבתן, corr. acc.). B. Bath. 154b אם זה הוא פסים שטר אמר (Ms. H. פיס) if he says, itt was a.. feigned sale (you persuaded me to a nominal sale in order to make people believe that you are a man of means).
