פרצוף m. (an adapt. of ~~~(n~~, as ifit were אף פרץ) face, visage, front. Yeb. XVI, 3 פנים פ׳ the full face, v. חוטם. 1b. 120a פדחת ולא פנים פ if the face is left, but without the forehead. Erub. 18a, v. דיסרוסוף. Ber. 61a (ref. to הצלעע, Gen. II, 22) פ׳ אמר חד one says, it means one of the two faces of Adam (v. דיפרוסוף). Snh. 103b וכ׳ אחד פ׳ . . . בתחלה first he made it (the idol) with one face, and afterwards with four. Yoma 72b וכ׳ אחד פ׳ רוקם by rokem (Ex. XXVIII, 39) needlework is meant and theretore one front (design otn. one side), by hoshebh (ib. 15) embroidery is meant and therefore two fronts (designs on both sides); a. fr. -- Pl.. פרצופים, פרצופין, פרצופות. פרצידא, פרצדא m. (v. פצידא; inserted) 1) cut, trench, v. פצידא. -- 2) (cmp. פורצנא) kernel, stone. Taan. 4a קלא דתותי פ׳ the kkernel under a clod. Ib. צורבא האי וכ׳ לפ׳ . . . a young scholar is like the kernel &c. (v. בט), i. e. when his reputation begins to spread, it spreads wider and wider. -- Pl. פרצידיא, פרצידי. B. Mets. 84a דרומנא פ׳ וכ׳ the seeds of a red pomegranate. Sabb. 21a מפרצידוהי וכ׳ from its kernels they produce oil.
פרק (b. h.) to break, separate; to untie, loosen; to unload. Sabb. 138a לפורקו ומותר . . . וילון it is permitted (on the Sabbath) to stretch a curtain and also to untie (remove) it. Ib.b top. Y.
