צדי, צדאch. same, to hunt, capture. Targ.Ps.XXXV, 8 תצדייה Ms. (ed. תציידיה). Targ. Prov. VI, 26 צדיא Ms. (ed. צירא), v. צוד ch. -- Lev. R. s. 34 בפילקי וחבשינון צדינון Ar. צדי, צדה II (b. h.; preced.; cmp. meanings of סור) to remove (the inhabitants of), make desolate. Gen. R,.. s. 26 (ref. to עוים, Deut. II, 23, v. Ez. XXI, 32) את שצדו העולם they depopulated the world. Nif. נצדה to become desolate. Cant. R. to IV, 1 they offer seventy sacrifices on the Succoth festival in behalf of the nations מהן העולם יצדה שלא that the world may not be depopulated of them (through their extinction); Yalk. Num. 782; Pesik. Bayom, p. 194a יצאו (Ms. O. יצרא; corr. acc.). Gen. R. l. c. שיצוד לעולם גרמו (from צדד or צוד) they were the cause that the world was desolated (through the food). Hof. הוצדה to be removed. Ib. העולם מן הוצדו they were removed from the world.

צריא II m. (preced.) 1) name of an unclean bird. Targ. Y. Deut. XIV, 16 (h. text תנשמת); [Targ. Y. Lev. XI, 17 ציירא,read; ציידא (h. text כוס)]. -- 2) (in Hebr. dict.) name of a sub-species of locusts. Sifra Sh'mini, Par. 3, ch. V הצ׳ (missing in Hull. 65a).

צדיאה f. (צדי II) desolation, ruins. Targ. Zeph. III, 6.
צדידא m. (cmp. צד) [crystal-shaped,] 1) eye-paint, antimony. Targ. Jer. IV, 30 (h. text פוך). Targ. II Kings IX, 30 (some ed. צרידא, צרירא, corr. acc.). - 2) name of a precious stone. Targ. Is. LIV, 11 (some ed. צרי׳, corr. acc.; h. text פוך).
צדיותא f. (צדי II) desolation, destruction. Targ. Is. VI, 12. Ib. XXXIV, 11. Targ. Y. I Deut. XXXII, 10 (ed. Amst. צדייות, ed. Vien. צריות, read; צדייות). Targ. Esth. I, 4 דבבל צדיותיה (ed. Lag. צדאותיה) the destruction of Babylon; a. e. -- V. צדו.
צדייה f. (b. h. צדיה; צדה I) lying in wait, aiming at. Yalk. Num. 787 וכ׳ צ׳ . . צ׳ כאן נאמר here (Num. XXXV, 20) the expression 'aiming is used, and below (ib. 22) the same expression &c.

צדיק m. (b. h.; צדק) virtuous, just, pious man. Ab. I, 2 הצ׳ שמעון Simon the Just. Ber. 7a צ׳ בן 'צ׳ לו וטוב צ׳ a. righteous man faring well is a righteous man and the son of a righteous man, opp. רשע; a. v. fr. -- Gen. R. s. 49 עולם של צדיקו הוא את לא art not thou, (Lord) the righteous one of the world Yoma 37a (ref. to Prov. X, 7) .. בשעה וכ׳ עולמים צ׳ when I mention the righteous (ruler) of wolds, give ye blessing. - Pl. צדיקים. Ber. 18a (ref. to Koh.
