קטרון, קי׳ II m. (a contraction of centurio, ~~- ׳opttpי, v. םינירטנוק) commander of a century. Sifre Deut. 309 ׳כו לודגשנ ׳ק היה םא if it were a centurio who is more powerful than he (the buleutes) &c.; Yalk. ib. 942 קרטון (corr. acc.). Tosef. Sot. XV, 7 (two versions confounded, one having זמורה בעל, and the other קי׳), v. זמורה. Yalk. Jer. 321 קרטון (corr. acc.). Tosef. Dem. VI, 3 לאוצר שוקל וכ׳ לק׳ שוקל he that pays taxes to the (Roman) treasurer or to the Centurio, gives first the tithes and pays his taxes (on the remainder). Sifre Num. 131, v. פלומופילון; Yalk.
