S. a. l. note) to snuff (or trim) the wick is permitted (on the Holy Days). קניגי, קיניגי m. (corresp. to a form ~~~~ - אov~) hunter. Hull. 60b (Var. in Ar. יגינג), v. ירטסילב. Gen. R. s. 32 אנא ׳ק חנ לא said Noah to him, am I a. hunter (that I should get these animals into the ark)?; Yalk. ib. 56.
קניגיא, קינ׳f. (~~~~~) chase, hunt. [Targ. II Esth. I, 2 אייגינק לכו, v. יניק.] -- B. Bath. 74b sq. לאירבג דיתע ׳כו םע ׳ק תושעל in the future Gabriel shall arrange a. chase of the Leviathan.
קניגיון, קינ׳ m. (~~~~, 8.) 1) the contest of wild beasts or of wild beasts with men (Iudus bestiarius). Ab. Zar. 18b (ref. to Ps. I, 1) ׳גיניקב דמע אלש הז Ms. M. (ed. ןויגנקב) that is he who does not stand as a spectator at bestial contests (arranged by the Romans). Ib. יתדמע אל ׳קב Ido not attend the shows of &c.; Yalk. קניגין m. (~~~~) same, hunt, chase, beasts of chase. Esth. R. to I, 12 הידיד ׳ק הארמ . . . עשרה ןיא ׳כו ךאיה the wicked man does not leave this world be-- fore God shows his chase, (that is,) how he has been caught. Lev. R. s. 13 ׳כו ׳ק םה . . . תומהב (not ןוגינק) Behemoth and Leviathan shall be the beasts of contest(the show) for the righteous in the hereatter, and whosoeer abstains from witnessing the beast fights of the nations in this world, shall be admitted to see them &c.; Yalk. Sam. 161 ןויגינק.

קניין, קניינא, v. next wds.
קנין m. (b. h.; קנה) 1) purchase, ownership, right of possession. Gitt. 47b ׳כו יואב ירכנל ׳ק שי a gentile has the right of possession in Palestine inasmuch as his produces are exempt from tithes. Ib. ףוגה ׳קכ תוריפ ןינק ימד the acquisition of usufruct is like the acquisition of the soil itself (and the Jewish owner of the usufruct has to offer the first fruits as if he were the owner of the land). Gitt. I, 6 ונינק אוהש ינפמ (Y. ed. וניינק) because he (the slave) is his property. Esth. R. introd. (ref. to Lev. XXV, 45) ׳כו ׳ק םכל שי םתא you have the right of pos- session (of slaves) of the nations, but the nations have no right of possession of you, v. הנק; a. fr. -- 2) property, esp. cattle. Num.
