קצפא, קיצ׳ ch. same, divine anger, visitation, (mourning over a) death. Midr. Till. to Ps. CVI . תיא ק׳ לאבלא there are places where they call mourning kitspa; v. קצופה.
קצפון, קיצ׳ m. (preced. wds.) anger. Lev. R. s. 32 (ref. to ויקצף, Deut. I, 34) וכ׳ ק׳ אני מה ולי ק׳ הוא להם to them it appears as anger, but to myself what does anger mean? I swore by my anger (Ps. XCV, 11), Iswear by my anger and reconsider; Yalk. ib. 657. Esth. R. to I, 18 ׳כו ףצקש ׳קל . . ןויובה אוה יאדכ the disrespect with whiich her (Vashti's) father treated the vessels of the Temple is enough to deserve the wrath which he (Ahasverus) vented on her and put her to death. Ib. זה לבזיון הק׳ כדי the anger (of Ahasverus) corresponds to this contempt (shown by Vashti), v. הפיצק. Ib. to II, 21 םש היה ׳ק המ wwhat cause was there for discontent Sifra Sh mini, Par. I, ch. II (ref. to Lev. X, 16) ׳קב היה ןרהא ףא Aaron, too, was included in the anger (of Moses). Pesik. Vattom., p. 130b הוא ק׳ אין (not קצפין), v. קציפה.
קצפין, v. preced.
קצץ (b. h.) 1) to cat, fell. Shebl. IV, 10 לקוצו מותר it is permitted to cut the tree down (in the Sabbatical year). Ib. וגצוקי אלו . . המכ (Y. ed. ונוצקי, corr. acc.; Bab. ed. יקוצצו; Ms. M. יקצצנו) how much must an olive tree bear so that one dare not cut it down (because it is an act of wilful destruction, Deut. XX, 19-20); B. Kam. 91b וצצקי Ms. F. a. R. (ater ed. וצצצקי; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 10). Ib. תצצק יתועיטנ thou hast cut down my young trees; ןכצוקל יל תרמא התא (not וצצוקל, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 7) thou hast told me to cut them. Y. Shebi. mV, 85b bot. ןוקי . . . ןיוקל, v. קתנ. Ib. תורוקב ןיצוקה he that cuts trunks for beams. Lev. VI, 1) לקוצן קוצן־ . . . הוא והיכן where is Evil Merodachז .. v (He is left out) in order to join a wicked man to a wicked man, a destroyer to a destroyer. Y. Yeb. II, 4a top ןב ןצוק קוצץ a destroyer son of a destroyer (wicked by heredity); Pesik. S'lib. p. 167b ׳וק ןב ׳וק לארשיב ןיא there is no hereditary wickedness in Israel. Ex. R. s. 1 ׳קש . . . ןוקו ׳כו תצע Kos ( Chr. IV, 8) is Caleb, for he destroyed the counsel of the spies; a. fr. - 2) (cmp. בק, רגג) to stipulate, agree upon. Shebu. 45b ימנ ׳ק ׳יפא let it be the same even if a stipulation has been made (and the amount is in liitigation). Ib. ׳כו יתצצק אל . . . תאס . . . ןמוא if the mechanic says, thou hast stipulated to pay me two (Zuz), and he (the employer) says, I have stipulated one only; a. e. - Part. pass. וצק; f הצוצק. B. R. s. 30, beg. וכ׳ נקצצין השנה מראש from the beginning of the year the means of support are definitely assigned to men, except &c., v. בק. Pi. ןציק 1) to scrape, cutt of; to fell. Pes. 56a תותלד ׳ק ׳כו (II Kings XVIII, 16) he took the gold off the Temple doors. Y. Ber. VIII, 12a bot. ׳כו ןשקמ ׳יפא even when cutting lupines. Ib. R. s. 23 לקוצו, v. קצן. -- Esp. תוע טטנב ׳ק [to cut down the shoots in the garden of religion,] to be hostile to religion, corruptt the youths; to be a heretic. Hag. 14b; Y. ib. II, 77b top, v. העיטנ. Cant. R. to I, 4 בנ׳ ק׳ כיצד in what way did he manifest his hostility to religion? Gen. R. s. 19 ןצקיו . . . השעח אל וכ׳ make not the fence (around the religious laws) more important than the essentials, lest it fall do wn and ruin the shoots. - 2) to stipulate. Shebi. IV, 1 ןצקישש . . . ןיאו תונוזמ םהל (R. S. וצקישש) it is unnecessary to say, that he must not stipulate to give them their food (for their work). Hif. ןיקה to cut of, deduct. Sifre Nuum. 8 התבותכמ ןייקמו he may deduct (his outlay for her) from her jointure.

V, 4; a. e. -- Snh. 58b ידא קץ הונא דב Rab Huna ordered the hand (of one in the habit of striking his neighbors) to be cut off; Nidd. 13b. B. Kam. 91b ׳כו אתניאת ןקד he cut fig-trees down before their ime; a. fr. - 2) to stpulate. B. Mets. 67a ליה קץ לא he had not stipulated a fixed aamount of interest; a. ס. קצץ m. (preced.) wood-cutter (cmp. קצוע). - Pl. קצצים. Cant. R. to II, 2 וצשקל ׳ק איבה he brought on cutters to raze the plantation; Lev. R. s. 23.
קצצה f. (preced. wds.) 1) timber. Cant. R. to IV, 12 ארזין של ק׳ cedar planks; Pesik. B'shall. p. 84a ארז של ק׳; Yalk. Ex. 225 םיצצק (only). -- Pl. תוצצק. Y. Kath. VIII, 32b bot. ׳כו ׳קו תונליא if heirs seize trees or timber, old or young, it is taken away from them. - 2) cutting ofb, severing family connections; k'tsatsah, a ceremony attend- ing the sale of an heirloom to an outsider, and the mar- riage 6f a man beneath his social rank.
