קשש II (cmp. preced; a. קשי) [to be hard, cmp. ישן,] to be old. Targ. ISam. XII, 2 קשית Levita (Regia קשית; ed. Wil. קשש, v. קשיש). -- Keth. 95b שנין לחמש וקש and afier five years the orchard grew old (ceased tto bear). Ib. דקיש עביד . . . כיון since they knew that an orchard is liable to get old. B. Bath. 167b וכ׳ דקשיא הוא מיקש Ms. R. (ed. לה דקשה הוא מיקש; Rashb. קשיא מיקשא) she has gr own old, and her voice is rough.
