ריח m. (b. h.; preced.) flavor, scent, odor; sense of somell. Ber. 43b (ref. to Ps. C.L, 6) הרר זה . .. דבר איזהו what is the thing which the soul enjoys and from which the body has no material benefit? It is smell. Ib. . .. עתידים וכ׳ ר׳ שיתנו in the future the young men of Israel shall give forth sweet savor (of purity) like the Lebanon (ref. to Hos. XIV, 7). Lev. R. s. 30; a. v. fr. -- Trnsf. (cmp. אבק) slight resemblance, a suspicion of. Gitt. 86b הגט ר׳ אף בו אין it has not even the slightest resemblance to a letter of divorce (by which the woman concerned might be precluded from marrying a priest); Y. ib. IX, 50b top אפי׳ בה אין פסול ר׳ there is not a suspicion of disqualification in her case. Y. Sot. I, 16a top בה נגעו ערוה מר׳ something of the odor of incest has touched her (the rival wife of a faithless woman); a. e. - Pl. ריחות. Cant. ריח, דיחא ch. same. Targ. Gen. XXVII, 27; a. e. - Ab. Zar. 66b וכ׳ חלא ריחיה if a liquid has the smell of vinegar and the taste of wine. Ib., a. e. היא מילתא ר׳, v. מילתא. Pes. 76b וכ׳ לר׳ דקשיא משום because it is bad for a bad smelling breath and for leprosy. Sot. 49a, v. דהנוניתא; a. fr. --Trnsf. pride. Zeb. 96b, v. אלקפטא.
ריחוף m. (רחף) hovering, brooding, use of the verb רחף. Y. Hag. II, 77b top וכ׳ להלן שנאמר ו׳ מה as the hovering mentioned there(Deut. XXXII, 11) means touch- ing and yet not touching (not pressing), so does the hover- ing mentioned here (Gen. I, 2) &c.
ריחוק m. (רחק) 1) removal, distance. Y. Maas. Sh. I, end, 53a מקום בר׳ when one lives far away (from Jerusalem, Deut. XIV, 24). Y. B. Mets. V,10abbot. הפסד ור׳ שכר קירוב an enterprise in which he who advances the money secures tohimself the advantages ofprofit without the correspond- ing share in tthe eventual losses. -- 2) separation, loath. someness. Lam. R. to I, 17 (expl. לנדה b.) היתה לר׳ she became an object of disgust.

ריחוש m. (רחש) movement (of the lips). Midr. Till. to Ps. LXII, beg. וכ׳ שפתים ר׳ . . . אaה מה as for pronouncing the He, no movement of the lips or pressing of the tongue is required &c.
דיחוש ch. (רחש; cmp. Men. V, 8, quot. s. v. רחש) a jelly-like pastry. Targ. Ez. XXVII, 17 ר׳ חיטי (ed. Ven. דיחוש; h. text מנית חטי).

ריטלין f. pl. (transpos. of ליטרא) Librae (pounds), v. ליטרא. Y. Keth. V, 30b bot. (ref. to דבילה מנה Mish. 12) ר׳ ארבע מנא רב אמר (not וארבע) R. M. says, it means four pounds (of figs).

S. a. l. note) thou (Herod) art neither a. noble nor the son of a noble; דמלכותא לישנא ר׳ דהאי ומנלן הוא Ms. M. (v. Rabb. D.
