ריקום m. (רקם) formation of an embryo in an egg. Tosef. Hull. VIII, 20 וכ׳ ריקומה הוא וכמה how far must the formation be advanced (to be called מרוקמת ביצה)? Intil the chick can be seen through the egpp.
ריקוע, רק׳ m. (b. h. רקע; רקע) beaten plate, foil. - Pl. ריפקועי, ריקועין, רק׳. Tem. 30b (ref. to Deut. XXIII, 19) (thou shalt not bring the hire &c.) into the house of the Lord thy God הר׳ את לרבות this includes beaten gold plates (as forbidden for overlaying). Ib.; Tosef. ib. IV, 8, v. עפורת. Shek. IV, 4 וכ׳ זהב רקועי gold plates for cover- ing the walls of the Holy of Holies; a. e.
ריקם m. (b. h.; ריק) empty; (adv.) void, without effect. Num. R. s. 480 וכ׳ הימנו ר׳ שאין none is emptier (of vvirtue) than he &c., v. ריק. Deut. R. s, 115 ר לחון ויצא and came out empty handed (without the jewel which he was to produce). Ber. 32b ו׳ חוזרת תפלתו אין his prayer will not come back void (unfulfilled). R. דיקן I (v. ררוקן, a. רק) to make exclusive. Snh. 60b (ref. to בלתי, Ex. XXII, 19) המיוחד לשם . . . העבודות ר׳ the text orders all these services to be devoted to the speciffed Name (the Lord) exclusively; Yalk. Ex. 348 ריבה (corr. acc.).

ריקן m. (v. ריקם) empty. Sabb. 83b, a. e. מלא מיטלטל ור׳ is movable when filled as well as when empty. Ber. 40a in the physical world וכ׳ מחזדק ר׳ כלי an empty vessel is receptive, a filled vessel is not; אינו ר׳ . . הקבוה אבל מחזיק not so with the Lord (in the spiritual world); a full vessel (mind) is receptive (of more), an empty one is not; a. fr. - Trnsf. bare of knoawledge, gnorant. Oant. R. to IV, 4 (play on רקתר, ib. 3) וכ׳ רצוף . . . שבשלש הר׳ the least learned in the three rows (of scholars in front ot the Sanhedrin) is as stuffed with knowledge as a pome- granate (is full of seeds). רריר I (b. h.; = רירי, reduplic. of רוח) to run, flow. Sirra M'tsorr'a, Zab., Par. 1, ch. I(ref. to Lev. XV, 3) רר זובו וכ׳ דב we read gobo (his fux), rar (it runs), and gob, this intimates &c.

ריר II m. (b. h.; preced.) juice, spittle, discharge. kts. II, 8 ר׳ בהן יש אם if there is juice in them. Tosef. Zab. V, 2 רירו his slaver, contradist. ffr. רוק; a. e. - Pl. רירין. Gen. R. s. 18 ודם ר׳ מליאה full of secretions and of blood.
דירא ch. same. Targ. I Sam. XXI, 14. Targ. Job VI, 6. - Keth. 77b (describing ראתן) וכ׳ ר׳ ליה איתי slaver comes out of his mouth on which flies settle. Hull. 77a דקנו רידיה משכא Ar. (v. Tosaf. a.l.; ed. דידיה משכא דקנה) when the skin over the fracture retains the discharge of the broken bone (ed. when the skin holds its own place). Ib. ריריה גרמא דקנא Mus. in Ar. ed. Koh. (ed. דידיה) when the broken bone retains its discharge. Bets. 22a ר discharge of a sore eye; Ab. Zar. 28b. --- Pl. רירין. Y. Ter. VIII, 46a top ופקתיה עלוי ר׳ עברת (the serpent nibbling at the melon) passed slaver over it and cut through it (made the poison go through it).
ריש m. (b. h.; v. רש) poverty, misery. Num. R. s. 10 (ref. to Prov. XXXI, 7) שהיא המות שישכח יאמר האובד על ועמלו רישו this refers to the lost (the culprit before execu- tion), (give him to drink,) that he may forget the threaten- ing death which is his misery and trouble.
