דעש (b. h.) to tremble, be in commotion, rage. Ex. R. s. 29 (ref. to Ps. LXVVIII, 9) וכ׳ דעשה ארן . . . אם ומה if the earth trembled when he gave life to the world, how much more (will it tremble), when he comes to &c. Ib. רועשים . . השמים heaven and earth tremble. Hif. הרעיש to shake, disturb. Gen. R. s. 71 (play on יערשיה 1Chr. VIII, 27) וכ׳ עולמו מדעיש. . בשעה whenever God caused the world to quake, he remembered the merits of the fathers &c. Koh. דעש m. (b. h.; preced.) commotion; earthquake. Ex. R. s. 29 נעשה הר׳ מהיכן for what cause does the earth- quake come? Y. Ber. IX, 13c bot. וכ׳ אלא ר׳ אין raash (commotion) means a cessation of government, v. הפגסק; Midr. Till. to Ps. CIV, 29; ib. to Ps. XVIII, 8 (corr. acc. to ed. Bub.). Tanbh. Pkude 3 (ref. to I Kings XIX, 11) ואחר וכ׳ שמרעיש לר׳ שדומה .. ר׳ הרוח 'and after the wind an earthquake', after this world comes the day of death, which is like an earthquake, for it shakes the whole body of man ; a. .

רפה m., דפה f. (b. h.; preced.) lar, loose. Gen. R. s. 100 ר׳ היא מיד it (the threatening sword of death) becomes at once loose (in the hands of the angel); a. e. - ר׳ שפה, v. ששה -- Pl. רפים, רפין; רפות. Lev. R. s. 19 (ref. to Is. XXXV, 8) ר׳ כאילו. . . ידים the hands (of God) which appear as if they were lax; a. e.
רפואה f (b. h. דפאות; דפא) 1)healing, cure; medicine, remedy. RR. Hash. 17b (ref. to Is. VI, 10) שצריך דבר איזהו וכ׳ ר׳ what is that which needs to be remedied? It is a. divine decree (which may be averted by man's repentance). Meg. 13b (ref. to Esth. III, 1) למכה ד׳ . . . אחר after the Lord had prepared the remedy for the wound (the means of delivery from the afffdiction). Ib. תחילה ר׳ . . הקבה אין the Lord does not strike Israel, unless he has prepared the remedy in advance. Sabb. VI, 10 ר משום as a medicinal amulet. Ib. 67a ר׳ משום בו שיש דבר כל whatever is done for medicinal purposes. Ib, קעביד ר׳ מאי what remedy can he effect by it? דפוסא m. (רפס) treade, ענבין רפוס treader ofgrapes. Targ. Y. II Gen. XLIX, 11 Bxt. (ed. דפוס, corr. acc.).
רפוסא m. (a corrupt., prob. to beread; פריטור praetor, סpatyo~) judge. Ex. R. s. 37 וי׳ קומיס מלך של אוהבו a. friend of the king (who was made) Oomes and judge. Ib. וכ׳ ש׳ ר׳ עשאו the Lord made him (Moses) a judge, for it is said, and Moses sat to judge &c. (Ex. XVIII, 13).
