שוור, Pa. שוור, שור 1) to stride, leap, run, hasten. Targ. Y. Ex. XVII, 8 (ed. Vien. ושווד, corr. acc.). Ib. XXXII, 19. Targ. Cant. II, 8. Targ. Job XXXVII, 1 1Var. Targ. Am. III, 5 ed. Lag. שיור, שוורא m. (preced.) tramper, freebooter. Snh. 6םb וכ׳ דמטא שוור נבוזראדן שור שוורא בר ש Ar. (ed. בר שוור שווי נבוזראדן שוור; Ms. M. שואר נבוז׳ שוואר בר שווארר) tramper, son of a tramper, jump, Nebuzraddan, jump (to Jerusalem), for the time has come &c.; Yalk. Ps. 810 וכ׳ מטא שואר בן שואר jump, thou son of a tramper &c.; Yalk. Kings 251 וכ׳ מטא נבוכדנצר שואר בר ששואר.

*וזה ש f, pl. שוזות (dial. for שחוזות) exposed, with uplifed tails. Y. Sabb. V, 7b bot. (ref. to שחוזות, Mish. V, 2) ש׳ תני תניי אית some read shueoth; ש׳ דאמר מאן וכ׳ מעתדן according to him who reads shufoth, it means ׳prepared (v. עתד), as we read זונה שית (Prov. VII, 10); v. שחז.

שוח I (b. h.) to bend, sink. Hull. 27a וכ׳ ששח ממקום, v. חטא I. Ib. הוא ועומד שח והוא . .. שח where it bends' implies (that the limb which is to be cut) must be erect (when in its natural condition), but this (the tail) is al- ways hanging down. Y. Taan. II, 65a top בכולן לשוח צריך (or לשוח fr. שחח) he must bend down with all of them (he eighteen vertebre). Ber. 34a, v. שחה. Ab. V, 21 בן לשוח תשעים at ninety years (is the time) for being bentu. (perh. meant as noun לצוח). Midr. Till. to Ps. XLVIII עליו שח לבו his heart within him is bent (in grief over his sin); Yalk. ib. 755 סח (corr. acc.); a. fr. Hihpol. השתוחח to be bent domn, depressed. Midr. Tlll. to Ps. XLII וכ׳ ומשתוחחת מתקנאה אני I am jealous and desperate, when I see the happiness of the nations &c.

שוחד m. (b. h. שחד; Shaf. of א)חד) or יחד to con- oiliate, win favor) favor, gift, esp. bribe, bribery. Midr. Till. to Ps. XVII, 2 אתה אבל . .. ש׳ ליקח . . . בתורה כתבת וכ׳ הרשעים מן ש׳ נוטל שאתה thou hast written in the Law (Ex. XXIII, 8), 'thou shalt take no briba, and they (men) are afraid to take presents and judge me, but thou who acceptest means of conciliation from sinners, such as repentance, good deeds, and prayer; let thy judgment go forth from before thee. Keth. 105b (ref. to Ex. l. c.) וכ׳ דברים ש׳ אפי׳ אלא ממון ש׳ . .. אינו not only a bribe in the shape of money, but even a bribe in acts (service) is forbidden. Ib.a ש׳ מקבלי . . סמויות כמה, v. סמה.
