ש׳ לשון expressing drinking, fll, plenty; Y. ib. IV, 54a top ש׳ . . . חיבה לשון; Num. R. s. 21 a; Tanh. Pinh..2; a. e.. v. רויה. -- 2) drunkenness. Num. R. s. 10 a [read;] פיו מנבל וכ׳ בש׳ רעים דברים ומדבר he defiles his mouth and talks bad words in his drunkenness, and is not ashamed. Ib.ו הש׳ מתוד עמדו they stood up and smote one another in their drunkenness. Erub. 65a לוט של לשיכרותו . . . שbל וכ׳ this (that the drunken man can be held to legal responsibility) has been taught only, when he has not reached the degree ofLot's drunkenness (unconsciousness), but when he has &c. שכשוך, שיכ׳ m. (שכשך II) dabbling. Ab. Zar. 58a נסך יין עושה ש׳ וכי Ms. M. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note; ed. וכ׳ אין שיכשך דאמר הוא מר והא, read; שיכשוך) does dabbling (in wine) make it forbidden (v. ז(גסך- Ib. 57b, v. שמוך.
שכשך I (v. שבך) to guiet, soothe, pat. Tanb. ed. Bub. Ki Thetse 6 בולם והוא משכשכו one pats him (the horse), and he kicks (v. בלם II); Yalk. Deut. 938; Yalk. Ps. 719 משכשכתו (corr. acc.); Pesik. Zakh., p. 24b מכשכשו.
שכשך II (transpos. of כשכש) to knock about, shake; to dabble. Men. 23a הלוג בשירי משכשכו עצמו הוא (Rashi seems to read; משפשפו) he himself wipes it (the meal offering) in tthe remainder of the Log of oil; Yalk. Lev. 474. Ab. Zar, 33b וכ׳ במים משכשכן he washes them (the vessels) in water, and they are permitted. Y. Ter. III, 42a bot. בו משכשכין ואחרים (not בהן) and other people dabble in it (put in vessels or their hands to lap of it); Tosef. ib. I, 8 משתמשין.
שכשך ch. same. Ab. Zar. 57b ביה ש׳ ידיה ביה שדא Ar. (ed. שיכשוך . . שדיה, corr. acc.; Ms. M. ושיכשך, Hebr. form) he put his hand in and dabbled in it (v. preced.)
של m. (b. h.; v. שלוה) carelessness, negligence. Sot. 35a (expl. II Sam. VII, 7) שלו עיסקי על for his careless handling (of the Ark); Num. R. s. 4aa; Yalk. Sam. 142; Num. R. s. 21 1 וכ ששגגת מפני השל על for the carelessness, because an involuntary act of a scholarr counts as a wilful act.

של (b. h.; =לי אשר, v. שי) belonging to, of. Ab. II, 2 וכ׳ ר׳ של בנו the son of &c. Ib. 12 כשלך . . ממון יהי let thy neighbor's property be as dear to thee as thine own. Ib. V, 10 שלך ושלך שלי שלי האומר he who says, what is mine is mine, and what is thine is thine. B. Mets. I, 1 אומר זה וכ׳ שלי כולה one says, it belongs entirely to me &c. Ib. 3oa חבירו משל . . שלו מלאעה שהיתה when his own work is more valuable than that required for his neighbor, i. e. when by helping his neighbor he would lose more than he could save for his neighbor. Gen. R. s. 49 לו אמרו מטטלו שאכלנו . . . נאמר מה tthey (the strangers entertained. by Araham) said to him, what shall we say? Said he, say, blessed be the God of the worrld of whose. belongings we have partaken; a. vv. fr. - Kidd. 57b וכ׳ בשלי שלי לשחוט (not לי) slaughter what is owing to me (the sacrifice) on what belongs to me (on Temple grounds), and what is for thee, on thy own ground.

שלב, Pa. שלב (b. h. שלב, v. לבב) to join, fit in with mortise and tenon. Part. pass. משלב; pl. משלבין. Targ. O. Ex. XXVi, 17; XXXVI, 22. -- Kidd. 73b top הדמיה משלבי R. Han. (ed. משלטי) if the limbs (of the exposed infant) are set (v. עב).
*שלבא m. (preced.) close-fitting cock or stopper (screwed in). Sabb. 112b Ms. O. a. Ar. (ed. שלאכא, read; שלאבא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 20).
שלבוקין m. pl. (v. שלבק) pustules. Targ. Y. II Ex. IX, 9, so. (Y. I שלפוקין).
שלביות f. pl. (שלב) wedges. Y. Succ. I, 52 top; ib. 52b bot. שלכ׳ (corr. acc.; Bab. ib. 12b חיצין).
שלבין m. pl. (b. h. שלבים; preced.) mortised boards, steps of a ladder. Y. Taan. IV, 68b bot. כמין אותן ועושה וכ׳ ש׳ he gave them the form of mortised hoards and joined them, so as to make them look like a ladder.
שלבק (cmp. Sam. שלבק, Ex. III, 3 ישתלבק, h. text יבער) to cause blistters. Y. Keth. V, 30a bot. ומשלבקת . . מפני חשפיות את (ed. Krot. ומשלבקתן, corr. accl) because it makes the mouth sore (v. סרח I), and blisters the lips; (Bab. ib. 61b משרבט).

שלד f. (contr. of שחלד, v. חלד; cmp. שודא a. שוחדא) a mass of a burnt or decayed body distinguishable in shape and outlines. Nidd. 27b, sq. קיימת ושלדו שנשרף מת if a corpse has been burnt, and its remains have retained the shape of the body. M. Kat. 25a. Nidd. 56a שיבש שרן
