שלמה f. (b. h., v. שמלה) cloak, garment. Gen. R. s. 3 כש׳ הקביה בה נתעטף the Lord wrapped himself in it (the light) as in a cloak; Yalk. Ps. 862 בשמלה הקבוה נתעטף; Ex. R. s. 50. Snh. 102a; a. fr.
שלמה (b. h.) pr. n. m. Solomon, king of Israel. Ber. 10a וכ׳ ש׳ אמר מי כנגד with reference to רwhom did Solomon say that verse (Prov. XXXI, 26)? Sah. 20b בתחלה וכ׳ העליונים על ש׳ מלך Solomon ruled first over those on high &c. Y. ib. II, 20c וכ׳ ש׳ . . מלאך ירד aa angel came down in the image of S. and made him rise .from his throne &c.; Koh.
