שלק (Shaf. of חלק, as שנק of חנק) 1) (cmp. Assyr. שלק, Del. Assyr. Handw. 666) to dissect. Bekh. 45a מעשה וכ׳ זונה ששלקו . . it happened that the disciples of R. Yishm. dissected the body of a prostitute that had been condemned to death &c. -- 2) [to make smooth,] to boil thoroughly, boil to a pulp, seethe. Maasr. IV, 1השולק הכובש וכ׳ he who presses, boils, or salts (vegetables, olives &c.) ... is bound to give tithes. Tosef. Bets. VI, 8 וכ׳ ש׳ אכל אפי׳ even if one eats overboiled vegetable, and he makes a meal of it. שלקוקיה m. pl. (v. שלק P.) trimmings, coiled and hairy substances covering ourds &c. Y. Maasr. I, 49a (expl. משישלק, ib. I, 5) ש׳ ירים דו מאן when he removes the trimmings; cmp. פקסוסיה.

שלש שלש I (b. h.; denom. of שלש) 1) to do or come for the third tisme. Num. R. s. 4 0 אותה יצאת לא וכ׳ שילשה ולא שינתה ולא שנה not that year passed, nor the second, nor the third, when &c., . e. within three years these hings occurred; a. e. - 2) to go back to the third generation. B. Bath. X, 7 ישלשו they should write the grandfather's name in the document. - 3) to divide into three parts. Ib. III, 4 ביניהם משלשין the fine is divided between them (the three sets of witnesses convicted of an alibi); Macc. I, 3. Ib. במכות מש׳ ואין בממוון משלשין the monetary fine is divided, but not the punishment (but every one has to undergo the full punishment). Ab.
