תסיסה f. (next w.) bubbling, beginning fermentation. Ab. Zar. 30b וכ׳ תסיסתו וכמה how long does its bubbling last (is fresh wine in its first stage of fermentation, so as to keep off snakes) Three days.
תסס (onomatop.) [to hiss,] 1) to bubble, boil, ferment. Ab. Zar. 30b וכ׳ תוסס יין wine in its first stage of fer- mentation does not come under the law concerning liquids left uncovered (גילוי); Y. Ter. VIII, 45a sq.; Tosef. ib. VII, 15. Ib. וכ׳ תוסס וכמה and how long is it in that inceptive stage? &c., v. preced. Y. Taan. IVV, 69a bot. ראאה תוסס . he saw the blood (of the prophet) boil; Lam. R. introd. (R. Josh. 2); (Snh. 96b; Gitt. 57b מרתח); a. fr. - 2) to spurt. Cant. R. to III, 6 התחילה הצצור על אצבע נתן אש הוססת he put his finger on the rock, and it began to spurt fire; Gen. R. s. 77 (corr. acc.); Yalk. ib. 132 התחילה תוססת האש (corr. acc.). - 3) to cause spurting or sparkling. Tosef. Sabb. VI (VII), 10 וכ׳ בכותל אוד התוסס (not אור; ed. Ziuckerm. אוד חתום האומר, corr. acc.) if one strikes a brand against the wall, and says, here it is', he is guilty of a superstitious practice (v. אמורי), but if he does it for the sake of the sparks, it is permissible.

תספורת, תספרת f. (ספר) 1) hair-cutting. Sabb. 9b הת׳ התחלת, v. התחלה. Ib. אלעשה בן וו׳ the hair-cutting of the style of Ben Elashah (clipping); Ned. 51a ׳ והיינו וכ׳ של and that is the style of the high priest's hair- cutting; Snh. 22b, v. לוליינית. M. Kat. 14b בת׳ אסור אבל a mourner is forbidden to have his hair cut; a. e. -- 2) (sub. כלי) gardener's shears. Bets. 34a שלו בת׳ . . אין you must not trim vegetables (on the Holy Day) with the shears with which they are cut in the garden.

תסקופא, תס׳ m. (סקף I; v. תוסקפא) 1) divine dis- position, destiny. -- Pl. הסקופין, תס׳. Targ. Ps. LXVI, 5 (h. textעלילה). Ib. LXXVII, 13 ניסייך הסקופי ed. Lag.(ed. תעב (b. h.; v. הועבה, cmp. עבבית) to feel nauseous, to loathe. [hMmmdr. Till. to Ps. VII עצמו את התועב, v. חבע.] Pi. תעב, תיעב 1) to loathe, abominate. Sabb. 104a (play on א'ת) לו אתאוה ת׳ אותי me (the Lord) he loathes, shal I hhave desire for him - 2) to declare an abomination, to forbid. Ab. Zar. 66a (ref. to Deut. XIV, 3) שתיעבתי כל וכ׳ לך whatever I have declared an abomination for thee (whatever Ihave fforbidden thee)comes under the category of 'thou shalt not eat (all kinds of forbidden food come under the same category, hence can be combined to make up the legal quantity); Hull. 114b וכ׳ שתעבתי כל whatever Ihave forbidden thee, it is forbidden to eatt(even if the text does not say explicitly, 'thou shalt not eat); Yalk.
