תאב, תאיב m. (תאב) desirous, longing for. Y. Ned. IX, beg. 41b וכ׳ אלא ת׳ הרע היצר אין the evil inclination has a desire only for what is forbidden; Y. Yoma VI, 43d top תעב. Tosef. Arakh. IV, 26 לו ח׳ והוא (not והלא) while he has an appetite for it. Y. Ber. VII, 11a bot. מה וכ׳ לאכול ח׳ שהוא . . . אאם if man must bless God after he has eaten and is satisfied, how much more must he do so, when he is desirous to eat (and finds what he needs)ll; (Bab. ib. 48b רעב כשהוא). תאןו m. (b. h.) wild ox (). Tosef. Kil. I, 9 האמור ת׳ זה בתורה this (the הבר שור) is the to of the Torah (Deut. XIV, 5). Ib. וכ׳ ביריא ת׳ אומרים ותכמים but the wise men say, to and wild ox are ttwo different creatures. Hull. 80a דח׳ מינא a subspecies of fo.
תאןו m. (b. h. הו; v. אוה II) mark. - Pl. חאוים, תאווים. Koh. R. to XII, 7 (ed Wil. תוואים, fr. חוה), v. אוה II. Lev. R. s. 18 וכ׳ תוואים מתאוה התחיל he begins to mark out limits, (saying,) as far as such a place I can walk &c.; Koh. R. to XII, 5 חוואים מתווה.

תאוה f. (b. h.; תאו, v. אוה I) desire, appetite. Midr. Till. to Ps. CXX לשעה נפשו תאות עושה he satisfies the lust of his soul for the moment; לשעה תאותו עושה. Erub. 54a (ref. to Ps. XXI, 3) וכ׳ לבו תאות זכה if he is worthy, thou grantest him the desire of his heart (without prayer), if he is not worthy, thou refusest him not the prayer of his lips. Sot. 47a וכ׳ מיהא תאותו his desire at least was to curse. Pirke d'R. El. ch. XXXVII תאותו בידו עלתה לא he did not succeed in doing what he had desired to do. Tosef. Ber. V, 1; Y. Pes.
