Boste, John (Boaste or Booste), of Dufton, Westmorland, tabarder of Queen's Coll. 1568-9, B.A. 9 July, 1569, M.A. 18 June, 1572, fellow 1572, turned Papist, imprisoned in the Tower and 'often most cruelly rack'd,' tried and condemned for high treason at Durham for exercising his priestly functions in England, 'butchered alive on 19 or 24 July, 1594.'
