Cornish, Henry, s. William, of Ditchet, Somerset, pleb. New Inn Hall, matric. 4 Nov., 1631, aged 20; B.A. 29 April, 1634, M.A. 9 Feb., 1636-7, created B.D. 12 April, 1648, canon of Christ Church 1648 (turned out soon after the restoration), created D.D. 18 Dec., 1649, sequestered to the rectory of St. Giles-in-the-Fields 1647, 'one of the ministers appointed by parliament to preach the scholars into obedience,' a nonconformist preacher at Stanton Harcourt and at Bicester, Oxon, where he died 18 Dec., 1698, buried in the church 22nd, aged 89.
