Hallifax, William, s. John, of Springthorp, co. Lincoln, minister. Brasenose Coll., matric. 7 April, 1671, aged 15; scholar of Corpus Christi Coll. 1674, B.A. 1675, M.A. 22 Feb., 1678-9, fellow 1682, B.D. 24 Nov., 1687, D.D. by diploma 2 July, 1695, then chaplain to the English factory at Aleppo 1688-95, chaplain to the speaker House of Commons 1706, rector of Old Swinford, co.
