Mab, James, of Surrey, gent. Magdalen Coll., matric. 9 Feb., 1587-8, aged 16; demy 1586-94, B.A. 8 Feb., 1593-4, fellow 1594-1633, M.A. 17 Oct., 1598, proctor 1606, B.C.L. sup. 4 July, 1609 (as Mabbe), secretary to Sir John Digby, ambassador to Spain, a lay prebendary of Wells 1613; died at Abbotsbury, Dorset, about 1642.
