Pittis, Thomas, arm. Trinity Coll., matric. 29 April, 1653, B.A. 5 June, 1656; M.A. from Lincoln Coll. 29 June, 1658, B.D. 1665, D.D. 1670, incorporated at Cambridge 1676 (s. Thomas, a captain of the trained bands in the Isle of Wight); born at Knighton, rector of Gatcombe, Isle of Wight, 1662, vicar of Holyrood, Southampton, 1666, lecturer of Christ Church, London, chaplain in ordinary to the king, rector of Lutterworth, co. Leicester, 1678, and of St. Botolph, Bishopsgate, London, 1678, until his death 28 Dec., 1687; buried at Knighton; father of Thomas 1690. See Ath. iv. 220; & Foster's Index Eccl.
