Christ Church, matric. 27 Oct., 1794, aged 17, created D.C.L. 5 July, 1810, brother of the celebrated General Abercromby; bar.-at-law, Lincoln's Inn, 8 Feb., 1800, chief baron of the exchequer, Scotland, 1830, speaker of the House of Commons 1835-9, created Baron Dunfermline 7 June, 1839.
