Alison, William Pulteney, M.D. Edin. 1811, created D.C.L. 23 June, 1852, then professor of medicine, Edinburgh, and one of the physicians in ordinary to her Majesty in Scotland; president British Medical Association at Edinburgh in 1858 (elder brother of Sir Archibald Alison, Bart., aforesaid); died 22 Sep., 1859.
