Awdry, John Wither, s. John, of Swindon, Wilts, arm. Christ Church, matric. 22 Oct., 1812, aged 17, B.A. 1817; fellow Oriel Coll. 1819-31, M.A. 1820, created D.C.L. 20 June, 1844, chief justice Supreme Court of Bombay 1839-41, knighted by patent 22 July, 1830, died 31 May, 1878.
