Christ Church, matric. 16 Oct., 1844, aged 18; created D.C.L. 18 June, 1879, viceroy of India since 1884, governor-general Canada 1872-8, ambassador-extraordinary St. Petersburg 1879-81, and Constantinople 1881-4, etc., etc., created Earl of Dufferin and Viscount Clandeboye 13 Nov., 1871, born 21 June, 1826, married 23 Oct., 1862, Harriot Georgina (c.i.), eldest daughter of Archibald Rowan-Hamilton, Esq., of Killyleagh Castle, co.
