Burton, John Hill, created D.C.L. 26 June, 1878, historiographer royal for Scotland, an advocate, biographer of Hume, Lord Lovat, and Duncan Forbes, wrote a History of Scotland, secretary to the Prisons' Board 1854, author of the Book Hunter, died 10 Aug., 1881.
