Campbell, Major-General Sir Colin, G.C.B., created D.C.L. 24 June, 1857, field-marshal, Lord Clyde, so created 16 Aug., 1858, served in the Peninsular at Corunna, etc. in the 2nd Sikh War 1848 K.C.B., in the Crimean War 1854, general 1858, commander-in-chief of the forces in India 1857, suppressed the Sepoy rebellion, K.C.S.I. 1861 (son of John McLiver, of Glasgow), born 20 Oct., 1792, died at Chatham 14 Aug., 1863, buried in Westminster Abbey.
