Gideon, Sampson, s. Sampson, of London. Christ Church, matric. 20 Oct., 1763, aged 17; created D.C.L. 8 July, 1773, M.P. Cambridgeshire Nov., 1770-80, Midhurst (Nov.) 1780-4, Coventry 1784-96, Wallingford 1796-1801, assumed the surname of Eardley in lieu of Gideon July, 1789, created a baronet 21 May, 1759, and was created Baron Eardley, of Spalding, in Ireland, Oct., 1789, died 25 Dec., 1824.
