Christ Church, matric. 29 April, 1789, aged 15; created D.C.L. 18 June, 1799, 1st Earl Granville so created 10 May, 1833, M.P. Lichfield Jan., 1795 to Feb., 1799, Staffordshire in 5 parliaments March, 1799, until created Viscount Granville 12 Aug., 1815, Russian ambassador 1804-6, 1807, French ambassador 1824-8, 1830-41, etc., died 7 Jan., 1846.
