Hartley, David, s. David, of Bury St. Edmund's, Suffolk, arm. Corpus Christi Coll., matric. 6 April, 1747, aged 15, B.A. 14 March, 1750-1; fellow Merton Coll. until 1813, M.A. 1754, a student of Lincoln's Inn 1759, M.P. Hull 1774-80, June, 1782-84, as minister plenipotentiary, he signed the definitive treaty with the United States of America in 1783, died 19 Dec., 1813. See Gent.'s Mag., 1814, i. 95.
