Leighton, Sir Frederick; president Royal Academy 1878, created D.C.L. 18 June, 1879, an associate 1864, royal academician 1868, hon. LL.D. Cambridge 1879, and Edinburgh 1879, hon. colonel artists' corps (volunteers) 20th Middlesex (son of Frederick Septimus Leighton, of London), created a baronet 11 Feb., 1886.
